Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

06V100000 · Steering:Gear Box:Shaft Sector

Reported: 2006-04-04 (April 4, 2006)

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 TRUCKS, THE BOLT ON THE STEERING SHAFT MAY NOT BE TIGHTENED TO THE CORRECT SPECIFICATION AND THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT DUE TO THE LOOSE NUT, THE YOKE BOLT COULD SLIDE OUT PARTIALLY AND LIMIT THE ROTATION ON THE STEERING SHAFT.

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE STEERING BOLT AND TIGHTEN IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 25, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-765-489-5499.

06V167000 · Suspension

Reported: 2006-05-18 (May 18, 2006)

ON CERTAIN HEAVY-DUTY CLASS 8 VEHICLES, THE TABS ON SOME OF THE LIFT AXLE SPINDLE NUTS MAY HAVE BEEN BROKEN DURING ASSEMBLY. WHEN IN PLACE, THE TABS ON THE NUTS PREVENT THE NUTS FROM LOOSENING.

Consequence: WHEN THE TABS ARE BROKEN, THE POSSIBILITY EXISTS THAT THE NUT MIGHT SPIN OFF. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE WHEEL AND WHEEL END ASSEMBLY COULD FALL OFF, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE LIFT AXLE SPINDLE NUT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 5, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-765-489-5499.

07V007000 · Seats

Reported: 2007-01-05 (January 5, 2007)

ON CERTAIN HEAVY DUTY CLASS 8 XPEDITOR TRUCKS, SOME OF THE SEAT BASE MOUNTING FASTENERS THAT SECURE THE SEAT BASE TO THE CAB FLOOR BRACKET MAY HAVE BEEN LEFT LOOSE OR NOT INSTALLED AT ALL. IMPROPERLY TORQUED SEAT-MOUNTING FASTENERS MAY ALLOW MOVEMENT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHILE HE/SHE IS OPERATING THE VEHICLE.

Consequence: THIS MOVEMENT COULD RESULT IN A TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 22, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUTOCAR AT 1-877-973-3486, EXT. 2572 OR GO TO WWW.AUTOCARTRUCK.COM.

13V184000 · Service Brakes, Air

Reported: 2013-05-08 (May 8, 2013)

Autocar, LLC is recalling certain model year 2005-2013 ACX, WX, and WXLL trucks built November 16, 2004, through September 10, 2012. On the affected vehicles, the air brake systems were built without the required air tank drain valve. Therefore, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Consequence: Air tanks with valves omitted will not drain if moisture is introduced into the tank, potentially reducing air capacity in the air brake system, which could cause a reduction in brake performance and equipment durability, thus increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The recall began on June 27, 2013. Owners may contact Autocar at 1-765-489-5499. Autocar's recall campaign number is A-1302.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
