I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN DALLAS, TX AND MULTIPLE TIMES THE CAR ENGINE & ALL POWER SHUT OFF, AND THE CAR SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL. I SUSPECT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE OR SOMETHING MORE. A CAR SHOULD NEVER SHIFT ITSELF INTO REVERSE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY AS THE CAR CAME TO A SUDDEN HALT AND I HAD NO CONTROL WITH IT SHIFTING INTO N. THE BMW DEALERSHIP & BMW ARE CLAIMING NOTHING IS WRONG. ON 7/9/14, I BACKED OUR NEW 435I UP TO OUR GARAGE (OUTSIDE FOR THE NIGHT). THE GARAGE DOOR WAS OPEN, AND THE WARNING SYSTEM LET ME KNOW THAT I WAS CLOSE TO OUR LAWNMOWER. Following front brake service, a 2015 BMW 435xi developed two distinct braking anomalies: aggressive unintended brake application during highway driving in wet conditions with cruise control engaged, and low-speed dragging and abrupt grabbing just before coming to a complete stop. The technical symptoms strongly suggest a malfunction in the Dynamic Stability Control brake-drying routine or an issue with caliper return functionality and sticking brake pads.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
