THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS POORLY DESIGNED. WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS A POTHOLE IT WILL CAUSE THE LOWER CONTROL ARE TO BEND NEAR THE BALL JOINT. BASICALLY, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM METAL IS NOT REINFORCED IN THAT AREA. THE AREA BY THE BALL JOINT IS JUST A FLAT PIECE AND DOES NOT HAVE MUCH STRENGTH. WHEN IT FAILS IT WILL CAUSE THE CV JOINT TO COME OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION AND BREAK MANY PARTS.

I WAS STOPPING TO PARK THE CAR AND TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE BEFORE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD OVER THE CURB, A SIDE WALK AND INTO A ROCK GARDEN, (I WAS PARKING AT A NURSERY) I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. I THINK IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE ENGINE SURGE WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PROPEL THE CAR OVER THE CURB, A SIDE WALK AND INTO A GARDEN. 2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V774000 · Air Bags: Air Bag/Restraint Control Module | Air Bags

Reported: 2018-11-01 (November 1, 2018)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Buick Encore, Chevrolet Spark, Traverse, and Trax vehicles. The Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) on these vehicle may not have been turned off of "manufacturing mode," preventing the air bags from deploying in the event of a crash.

Consequence: If the air bags do not deploy in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM module to the correct mode, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 and Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18365.

20V668000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission

Reported: 2020-10-29 (October 29, 2020)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.

Consequence: Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. Already had turbo go on this car once back in July 2022. Mechanic replaced turbo with another one (used with 20,000 miles on it) due to the turbo for this car being on backorder. Now my car is throwing P0299 after about 20,000 more miles being put on the used turbo and a P0420 code. Changed rear catalytic. Changed upstream O2 sensor, changed wastegate solenoid, turbo seems to be working fine, no noises, but losing power going up hills at highway speeds. The EMC on the vehicle appears to be faulty. The vehicle is burning more than double the fuel than it should, and I’m able to smell a strong oil burning odor while driving it. The SUV lunges you forward violently when this defect begins to act up, which can be at any point in a short or longer trip. The vehicle has little to no power once this is triggered and seems to go into limping mode. I’ve had this to a dealer three times, and they have failed to repair the issue. The first time I left it there for almost a month and within three miles of…

THE WHEEL WELL LINER AND THE PLASTIC BUMPER ATTACHMENT ARE ATTACHED TO EACH OTHER OR NEAR EACH OTHER. IN MY OPINION THIS TYPE OF MATERIAL AND DESIGN IS FAULTY. THIS DESIGN DOES NOT SUPPORT HEAVY SNOW. LAST MARCH WHEN THE ROCHESTER, NY. RECEIVED HEAVY SNOW, THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOW CAUSED THE WHEEL LINER AND THE BUMPER TO TEAR. THE TEARING OF BOTH THE BUMPER AND THE WHEEL LINER CREATED A STEERING HAZARD WHICH PROHIBITS SHARP STEERING AND MANEUVERABILITY IN DRIVING CONDITIONS, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS PHYSICAL INJURY OR DEATH.

The 2021 Buick Encore was listed by the NHTSA as having a parts recall with the Evaporative Emission Purge Pump, yet when I look up my VIN and talk to the dealer, I’m told the vehicle is not recalled, even though I’m having the exact same issue that was described in the recall. I’ve been delaying servicing because I was told the part was on back order but now they have it in stock and I’m hoping I don’t have to pay for it since my issue is the same one that was listed in the recall.

The pump was recalled in model year 2021 for the make, model and engine in this vehicle. Failure to fix this issue results in increased fuel vapor escaping to the atmosphere as well as potential system damage. Since the same part was faulty in the previous model year, it seems GM did not correct the issue. A recall should be issued or an extended warranty with reimbursement…

I THINK IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE ENGINE SURGE WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PROPEL THE CAR OVER THE CURB, A SIDE WALK AND INTO A GARDEN. My engine light came on. The repair shop said I have to replace the fuel pump control module and that it is a known issue with Buick. I was advised not to drive the car. I am concerned that I could have been out and the car could have broken down. The car doesn’t even have 50,000 miles on it. This should not happen.

SUV has ran hot and had it towed on 3 separate occasions when this happened. Had thermostat and water pump replaced. Not fixed. Coolant keeps running out if bottom of suv. It is at dealership and blown head gasket and probably much worse. Apparently these models have something wrong with cooling system. The engine cost will be about what I owe on it. Buick needs to pay for another engine for my SUV. I have a warranty but they won’t honor the engine replacement and I’m out of a vehicle.

This car has the engine shutoff feature when stopped. My wife was waiting in the left turn lane of a major street with three lanes on her side plus two left turning lanes. Due to the busy intersection the wait for a green light is long, perhaps three minutes. The engine shut off and would not restart when she released the brake pedal. Also, almost everything electrical was inoperable, including the interior door release. My wife and granddaughter were temporarily trapped inside the vehicle. She tried the door handle, tried to put down the windo…

When I pulled into a parking space at docs office, my car suddenly lurched forward very fast, over the curb and into rocks. I had foot on brake and put in reverse, only to have it reverse very fast and hit a parked car! I was shocked! It had a mind of its own! This has never happened before. I do recall that sometimes when I back out of garage at home, I keep foot on brake and it seems like it wants to “go”. I read on a website that another Encore had very similar incident as mine. My son found online “Transmission slipping” problems with Buic…

I've only had the car for under a month and twice this has happened. When I came to a stop, the start/stop system was activated (engine shuts off) and I put the car in P (parked). Then when I placed it into reverse and released the brake which started the engine, there was a huge jolt/jerk/buck. This happened twice and as far as I know this these are the only times I've committed this specific sequence of events.

My check engine light has been appearing off and on for a few months. I received a diagnostic code of P0325 TWICE by two different professional technicians. I ordered an OEM knock sensor, hired a technician to replace the knock sensor, drove about 10 miles and the check engine light came back on. Then, I received a diagnostic code of P-1101, and the recommended solution is to replace the intake manifold and all necessary gadgets. After speaking with professional technicians and doing thorough online research, I discovered that General Motors is…
