Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

WAS PULLING A TRAILER THROUGH TOWN LUCKILY WHEN MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRAILER BRAKES KEPT ME FROM HITTING THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER GETTING STOPPED I FOUND THE BRAKE LINES ON TOP OF THE FRAME HAD RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION. I WENT AND BOUGHT NEW BRAKE LINE MATERIAL AND I AM REPLACING TWO OF THE FOUR LINES. NOT A WEEK AGO I NOTICED THE MY REAR SPRING SHACKLES NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS ALOT OF THESE SAME ISSUES THROUGH THE INTERNET. MY TRUCK IS A 2001 CHEVY 2500HD. *TR

ON 9/15/11, DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK DID STOP. I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM HOME. INSPECTED UNDERCARRIAGE AT HOME AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM AN UNDETERMINED SOURCE. TOOK TRUCK TO SERVICER IN ON 9/15/11. RECEIVED CALL ON 9/16/11 THAT IN ADDITION TO THE ONE LINE LEAKING, THE OTHER 3 ARE SUFFERING FROM HEAVY CORROSION AND AT RISK OF IMMINENT FAILURE. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2001 AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES ON IT. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN EXCLUSIVELY IN KY, AND NOT EXPOSED T…

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND WAS COMING UP TO A STOP SIGN AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING AND I WENT RIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK HOME, MY MECHANIC CAME AND LOOKED IT OVER AND FOUND THE REAR BRAKE LINE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUCK WAS COMPLETED ROTTED OUT AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. HE TOLD ME THAT THE OTHER LINES ARE LOOKING BAD ALSO AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. *TR
