8 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V184000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages:Doors:Latch

Reported: 2020-03-26 (March 26, 2020)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV vehicles. The door-handle cable inside the rear doors may be too long, allowing contact with the window when it is opened, possibly damaging the cable. A damaged cable may cause the rear door to open unintentionally when the rear window is opened. Additionally, it may cause the rear inside door handle to not work.

Consequence: If the rear door opens while driving, or the door handle fails to open the rear door, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear passengers.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear inside door-handle cables, free of charge. The recall began April 17, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A202298320.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV vehicles. These vehicles may have an improperly cast front left brake caliper that can fracture during a high-pressure braking event.

Consequence: If a brake caliper fractures and brake fluid is lost, the vehicle may experience reduced brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the casting lot number on the front left brake caliper and replace it if necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N202321400.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect bolts, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8785, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N202322230.

As everyone knows right now, the Bolt has been recalled due to fire safety issues with the battery. This recall was issued last Friday...I purchased the car on Tuesday...pretty hard to believe that the executives at GM weren't very aware of this issue three days earlier. Today they suspended sales of my Bolt (2022 EUV Premier)...a little too late. Per GM's recommendations, I have: 1. Reduced the maximum battery charge to 90% (or a reduction of 25 miles from 250-225) 2. I am charging the car outside, and parking the car outside as well. …

The brake pedal can easily become disconnected from the electronic brake booster behind the firewall. When this happens, it stops all driver aids. The safety issue is it can happen while driving, and if using adaptive cruise control, or GM super cruise, if one pedal driving is on, it can without warning substantially slow the car, and has the potential to cause an accident. Its not too far to think the dislodging can cause the boost arm to be placed in a position to prevent full brakeing either. I have not taken it in because it is a design f…

About one month ago (ironically at about the same time Enel X pulled out of the US and Canada) we noticed a burning smell when we charged our Bolt, at home, using our JuiceBox type 2 charger. At first we thought it was the car, but nothing appeared amiss. We charged the car 3-4 times during this month time period, and the smell was present every time. After the last charge (one week ago), I checked the NEMA receptacle and discovered it was partially melted and one prong of the plug was coated in black "tar". I turned off the breaker, removed th…

This car has One Pedal Driving (OPD) which allows you to slow the car to a stop, without using the brake pedal. The car activates the brake lights, based on sensors in the car which sense the deceleration. In this mode, the brake lights are NOT activated by any pedal action by the driver, only by the vehicle's actual deceleration. This all works great EXCEPT the fact that once the car comes to a stop, the brake lights turn off. This is obviously a hazard for any stopped driver and there are anecdotal cases of rear end collisions caused by the l…

While traveling at highway speeds, my Chevrolet Bolt (2020 with 20K miles) made a clunking noise followed by a loss of speed. The clunking noise had previously been reported to the dealer, but they were not able to identify any issues at the time. Steering sticks and does not return to center in sweeping turns. Clicking noise over bumps in very cold weather (may or may not be related--steering issue most concerning). Most prominent at higher speeds (for example, getting off of the highway) but occurs at any speed. Once you turn the wheel, it will return slightly then stick in place. It takes a small amount of extra force to correct it back towards center. During these occurrences it may continue to stick or may begin to act normally after the "correction." Yesterday, 27 December, the vehicle was presented to Capitol Chevrolet for service under this recall number 21v650 They did not repair anything. To the contrary, they reset software to gimp the vehicle battery capacity --and hence, range performance--to only 80%. The car is worse now than before they "fixed" it. No date set for actual repair, when already more than 4 months have elapsed. And in the meanwhile, GM continues to collect 100% lease payment on only 80% delivered car. Not acceptable.
