20V811000 · Seat Belts:Critical Fasteners | Seat Belts

Reported: 2020-12-23 (December 23, 2020)

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV and 2021 GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500, Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV and Chevrolet Blazer, Camaro, Colorado, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500, Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.

Consequence: If a seat belt assembly is not properly attached to the vehicle, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect bolts, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8785, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N202322230.

Consequence: A separated axle shaft can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left or right axle shaft as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 21, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N212331000.

My engine got my brand new Camaro is having a lifter tick issue. This seems to be a very common issue amongst these new Chevy engines, after doing research they all seem to stem from the same problem, and that would be the fuel management system that deactivates certain cylinders in the engine to “save on gas”, or better MPG. So their own technology is breaking their engines, I’m certain my car is having this issue now and it’s very, very expensive to fix.

I am writing to report a serious safety issue I experienced with my Chevrolet Camaro, which I believe may be related to a broader mechanical defect affecting General Motors vehicles. Approximately two weeks ago, while driving on the highway, an “ESC” (Electronic Stability Control) warning suddenly appeared on my dashboard. Immediately after, my vehicle began losing power and eventually shut down completely. I was fortunate to be able to coast to the shoulder to avoid a hazardous situation in active traffic. Believing the issue might be batter…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
