Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V868000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Cooling System:Fan

Reported: 2016-12-02 (December 2, 2016)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit vehicles manufactured August 24, 2009, to December 1, 2013. The affected vehicles, equipped with special equipment options for police or government service, may experience corrosion of the under-hood cooling fan assembly due to fluid intrusion, which may result in an electrical short circuit.

Consequence: A short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fan motor and shroud, extend the wiring and re-orient the fan motor to reduce the risk of corrosion, free of charge. The recall began on September 7, 2017. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 16145.

THE VEHICLE HAD AN APPARENT POWER FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ON AND OFF, THE LOCKS WERE GOING UP & DOWN AND THE ENGINE WAS DYING AND LURCHING PRETTY VIOLENTLY. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I GOT OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT IT OFF. THEN IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD (EXCEPT FOR A CLICKING IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR). COULDN'T GET ANYTHING TO COME ON. THEN (FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON) I MOVED THE POWER SEAT SWITCH, AND EVERYTHING CAME ON. THEN IT STARTED FINE AND RAN ALL THE WAY HOME. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
