21V172000 · Equipment:Appliance:Oven/Stove/Cooktop

Reported: 2021-03-12 (March 12, 2021)

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021 Coachmen Viking and Clipper Travel Trailers. The cooktop may not be isolated properly from the furnace return air, which can cause the flame to become inverted.

Consequence: An inverted flame can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a panel and seal it, free of charge. The recall began March 31, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-269-467-4600. Forest River's number for this recall is 121-1305.

It remained attached at one side and was dragging along the highway until other drivers on the highway signaled us to pull off. We’ve only ever used this RV at RV parks, so the tank has NEVER been full. This is a major safety hazard. Someone could have gotten into an accident if it became completely disconnected. It was only fastened to the bottom of the RV with fabric belt straps by the manufacturer. I can only imagine what would have happ…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
