Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

06V286000 · Vehicle Speed Control

Reported: 2006-08-01 (August 1, 2006)

ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH SPEED CONTROL, GASOLINE OR NATURAL GAS ENGINES, THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH MAY OVERHEAT.

Consequence: OVERHEATING COULD RESULT IN SMOKE OR BURN AND AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A FUSED WIRING HARNESS INTO THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 7, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-866-436-7332. (NOTE: ALSO SEE RECALLS 05V017 AND 05V388)

Reported: 2008-02-04 (February 4, 2008)

FORD IS RECALLING 225,000 MY 1992-2003 ECONOLINE, MY 1993-1995 TAURUS SHO, MY 1992-1998 CROWN VICTORIA, MY 1993 BRONCO, F-SERIES, MY 1995-1997 F-SERIES SUPER DUTY STRIPPED CHASSIS, MY 1992-1998 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS, AND MY 1992-1995 LINCOLN TOWN CAR VEHICLES. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES WERE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED USING A WIRING HARNESS THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VEHICLE CIRCUIT POLARITY.

Consequence: AS A RESULT, THE FUSE IS LOCATED IN THE OUTPUT CIRCUIT RATHER THAN IN THE INTENDED INPUT POWER FEED CIRCUIT, AND MAY NOT OFFER THE INTENDED PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT TO GROUND.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW WIRING HARNESS, OR REPLACE THE MATING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

Reported: 1995-03-22 (March 22, 1995)

THE PARKING BRAKE FRONT CABLES WERE BUILT LONGER THAN APPROPRIATE THAT REDUCES THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PARKING BRAKE IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, AND FAILS TO FULLY COMPLY WITH ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 105, "HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS."

Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ON A SEVERE GRADE MAY BE DIMINISHED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES.

98V062000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 1998-03-19 (March 19, 1998)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY PASSENGER VANS AND STRIPPED CHASSIS. THERE IS INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND THE FUEL LINE WHICH, OVER TIME, CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE FUEL LINE CAUSING FUEL LEAKAGE.

Consequence: IF THERE IS FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, FIRE COULD RESULT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE. IN ADDITION, A PIECE OF ANTI-ABRASION INSULATION WILL BE INSTALLED TO PREVENT ABRASION OF THE FUEL LINE.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

I HAVE A 1995 FORD E-150 SHERARD HI-TOP CONVERSION VAN AND JUST EXPERIENCED A SEVERE FUEL LEAK. I'M CURIOUS IF THE VEHICLE HAS EVER BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS. THE FUEL LEAK WAS ON THE VENT LINE TO THE FILL TUBE. THE VENT LINE IS ABOUT A 3/4 INCH HOSE WITH HOSE CLAMPS. ONE END OF THE HOSE ATTACHED TO A METAL TUBE NEAR THE TOP OF THE FILL TUBE AND THE OTHER IS NEXT TO THE FILL TUBE WHERE BOTH ENTER THE FUEL TANK. THE VENT HOSE DEVELOPED A MAJOR BREAK NEAR THE TANK. UPON REMOVE OF THE HOSE I FOUND THAT THE HOSE CLAMP IS BONDED TO THE HOS…

ORIGINALLY IN DEC 2004 WHILE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO ST LOUIS, MO I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY ABS LIGHT, MY SPEEDOMETER HAND INTERMITTENTLY GOING BACK TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS ORIGINALLY THOUGHT TO BE AN ABS BRAKE PROBLEM SO THE SPEED SENSOR AND THE ABS MODULE WERE REPLACED. THE NEXT TIME I WENT OUT ON THE ROAD FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 2005 WEEKEND, WE GOT AS FAR AS CHARLESTON, SC AND HAD TO PUT THE RV IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEEDOMETER WERE BOTH MALFUNCTIONING; THE VEHICLE WOULD COME …
