The hands-free power lift gate was inadvertently activated while I was placing items into the back of the vehicle, and hit me in the back, and the back of my head. This happened three times. The dealer told me that Ford relocated the foot sensor farther towards the back of the vehicle following consumer complaints that it was too hard to active with your foot, as you had to extend your foot too far under the vehicle. This has now caused the lift gate to descend while you are loading/unloading cargo, without you intentionally activating it. …

The Yakima roof rack system (base clips, towers and bars) were attached to the roof of my husband's new 2022 Ford Edge. Our Thule Hullavators and 2 eddyline kayaks were also on the roof rack. It was all secure and properly installed. After 90 min heading north on I75 the front passenger clip failed sending the entire roof rack flying. We pulled over immediately and one kayak landed, still attached to the bars, in the left 2 lanes of the highway while the 2nd kayak landed in the middle of the highway, close to the right 2 lanes. I took it to dealer and they said it had a leaky strut and ordered the part. They recommended only driving around town. It is getting worse as I wait over a week for the part to arrive. Reported: 2022-03-11 (March 11, 2022)

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Edge vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank or distorted image when the vehicle is in reverse.

Consequence: A rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The rearview camera software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 29, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S14.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will perform an engine cycle test and replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 3, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S55.

Consequence: A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software will be updated by a dealer or through an over-the-air update, free of charge. This will be a phased campaign, with the remedy becoming available in different phases based on model and model years. My 2022 Ford Edge Titanium (equipped with the 8F35 transmission) is exhibiting severe shuddering, jerking, harsh shifting, lurching, and hesitation. I just received the $8,500 cost estimate to rebuild the transmission on my car that is only 3 years old due to the torque converter failure. These faulty Ford Motor Co transmissions are on back-order due to so many failures across the country. This high out-of-pocket repair cost count is HALF of the money I still currently owe on this vehicle. It is available for inspection if someone comes to …

I bought my 2022 ford edge (AWD Titanium) last year and not too long after that I experienced transmission shudder. I recently spoke with a technician about this and he had mentioned that other ford edges are having the same issue as mine to the point that ford has issued a TSB on this subject. I'm sure i don't need to state the danger of the possibility of my transmission going out on the road.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

The car was in a front end collision; the airbags did not deploy. Insurance said the car was reparable and fixed it; car was picked up from body shop on 07/19/2024. In May 2025, at only 3 years old, the transmission went out at 95,000 miles and was just replaced. Ford would not admit the accident had anything to do with the transmission going out on a 3 year old car.
