Recall history
5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
79V261000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Lever And Linkage:Column Shift
Reported: 1979-12-18 (December 18, 1979)
THE PARKING PAWL ACTUATING ROD IN THE TRANSMISSION MAY HAVE AN INSUFFICIENT OR CRACKED WELD. THIS CAN CAUSE THE PARK CAM END TO SEPARATE FROM THE ROD ITSELF, PREVENTING THE PARKING PAWL FROM ENGAGING THE PARKING GEAR WHEN THE SELECTOR IS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION.
Remedy: DEALER WILL REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARKING PAWL ACTUATING ROD FREE OF CHARGE.
NHTSA campaign record ↗80V100000 · Visibility:Rearview Mirrors/Devices:Exterior
Reported: 1980-07-28 (July 28, 1980)
THE INVOLVED CHASSIS CABS WERE IMPROPERLY EQUIPPED WITH OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS WITH A REFLECTIVE SURFACE AREA OF TWENTY SQUARE INCHES, WHICH DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 111, "REARVIEW MIRRORS". THIS REQUIRES VEHICLES WITH A GVWR OF MORE THAT 10,000 LBS. TO BE EQUIPPED WITH OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS OF NOT LESS THAN FIFTY SQUARE INCHES OF REFLECTIVE SURFACE AREA.
Remedy: DEALER WILL INSTALL APPROPRIATE OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS AT NO CHARGE TO OWNERS.
NHTSA campaign record ↗80V102000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting
Reported: 1980-08-05 (August 5, 1980)
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE A PROTECTIVE FUEL TANK SHIELD. AS A RESULT THE 137 INCH AND 161 INCH WHEELBASE CHASSIS CABS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY". IF THE ABOVE VEHICLES UNDERGO FRONTAL IMPACT, THE DRIVE SHAFT FRONT UNIVERSAL JOINT MAY COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE FUEL TANK, RESULTING IN FUEL SPILLAGE.
Remedy: THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND, IF NECESSARY, A MID-SHIP FUEL TANK SHIELD WILL BE INSTALLED AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗80V103000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting
Reported: 1980-08-06 (August 6, 1980)
THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT THE MIDSHIP FUEL TANK PROTECTIVE SHIELDS. AS A RESULT, THEY DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY", DUE TO EXCESSIVE FUEL SPILLAGE UPON FRONTAL IMPACT.
Remedy: THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND, IF NECESSARY, A FUEL TANK SHIELD WILL BE INSTALLED AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.
NHTSA campaign record ↗82V024000 · Equipment:Mechanical:Carrier/Rack
Reported: 1982-03-15 (March 15, 1982)
THE REINFORCEMENT FOR THE IN-BOX SPARE TIRE CARRIER MAY HAVE BEEN ATTACHED USING INCORRECT HEX HEAD BOLTS. IF THE CARRIER AND REINFORCEMENT ATTACHING BOLTS ARE INCORRECT, THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR THE TIRE SIDEWALL TO BE DAMAGED OR WEAKENED BY EXTENDED CONTACT WITH THE SHARP EDGES OF THE BOLT HEADS.
Remedy: DEALER WILL REPLACE BOLTS AND ANY DAMAGED SPARE TIRES AT NO COST TO OWNER.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2007: 0 complaints · 2008: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2008 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2007 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2008 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
