Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
99V033003 · Steering:Linkages:Rod:Relay:Connecting
Reported: 1999-04-12 (April 12, 1999)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: STEP VANS EQUIPPED WITH SPICER 6,000 OR 8,000 LB. FRONT STEER AXLES. THE TIE ROD END CAN PULL OUTBOARD AND SEPARATE FROM THE TIE ROD TUBE DUE TO IMPROPER THREAD ENGAGEMENT BETWEEN THE MALE TIE ROD END AND THE FEMALE TUBE.
Consequence: SEPARATION OF THE TIE ROD END COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE COMPLETE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY.
NHTSA campaign record ↗99V255000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Cables
Reported: 1999-09-20 (September 20, 1999)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE THROTTLE CABLE CAN BIND DUE TO MISALIGNMENT WITH THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
Consequence: ENGINE SPEED WILL NOT RETURN TO IDLE AFTER THE DRIVER RELEASES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IF THE CABLE IS BINDING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REALIGN THE CABLE BRACKET. THE CABLE ASSEMBLY WILL BE INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE AND REPLACED AS NECESSARY.

I BOUGHT THIS VAN BRAND NEW ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO AND EVER SINCE I STARTED DRIVING IT I NOTICED THAT THE SUSPENSION WAS TERRIBLE. THE VEHICLE PUSH AND PULLS ALL OVER THE ROAD, THE FRONT END MAKES NOISES LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE, AND IT SWAYS ALL OVER THE ROAD. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CORPORATE FREIGHTLINER AND THEY DID CHANGE THE FRONT LEAF SPRINGS(SO CALLED FLAT STYLE LEAF SPRING). IT MADE A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT, BUT THE NOISES STILL PERSIST AND IT STILL IS ALL OVER THE ROAD. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2013: 0 complaints · 2014: 0 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2013 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2014 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
