4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

15V807000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages

Reported: 2015-12-01 (December 1, 2015)

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2016 Chevrolet Colorado trucks manufactured August 25, 2015 to September 24, 2015, and GMC Canyon trucks manufactured August 28, 2015 to September 24, 2015. The affected vehicles have a console compartment lid latch assembly that may fail to keep the compartment door closed in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Consequence: If the console compartment door does not remain closed in a crash, the contents stored in the console may strike the vehicle occupants, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the console compartment door latch assembly, free of charge. The recall began on January 5, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 16370.

THIS COMPLAINT IS CONCERNING THE HEADLIGHTS. I DON'T DRIVE MUCH AT NIGHT BUT WHEN I DO IT'S FRIGHTENING. THE NEW PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS ARE, IN MY OPINION, FLAT OUT DANGEROUS. I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH MANY ROLLING HILLS AND FEW STREET LAMPS. WITH THE LOW BEAMS ON, GOING DOWN A SLOPE, IT ACTUALLY SEEMS LIKE A SHADE IS BEING PULLED DOWN ON MY WINDSHIELD. THE "LIGHT CURTAIN CUTOFF" BASICALLY DISAPPEARS INTO DARKNESS ON A DOWNSLOPE. ON A FLAT STRETCH SIGHT DISTANCE FORWARD AND TO THE SIDES IS MINIMAL. I HAVE SEEN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY HAS RATED…

The headlights randomly flicker on and off while driving at night. This not only causes a distraction while i'm driving but is also affecting other drivers. Drivers in the other lane keep mistaking the flicker as me turning on my bright lights which is leading other driver to retaliate and either put on their bright lights or flash their brights at me. TRANSMISSION HESITATES DRAMATICALLY BETWEEN SOME SHIFTS..LONG PERIODS WHERE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE IN NEUTRAL. TYPICALLY HAPPENS IN LOWER GEARS, SUCH AS BETWEEN 2 AND 3 GEARS. PRESSING ACCELERATOR THEM CAUSES A CLUNK INTO GEAR. ALSO, ON HIGHER SPEEDS, DOWNSHIFTS ARE SLOW TO OCCUR BUT THEN SEVERAL GEARS SEEM TO BE SKIPPED WHEN THE DOWNSHIFT FINALLY OCCURS, WITH SCREAMING ENGINE RPMS. The power steering and Stabilitrak systems intermittently fail while the vehicle is in operation. The issue occurs unpredictably, both immediately after startup and while driving. On several occasions, the systems have failed during turns, requiring sudden corrective action and increased steering effort to maintain control and avoid veering off the road or colliding with nearby vehicles. No warning signs or noticeable symptoms are present prior to the failure occurring.

2016 GMC Canyon Power Steering failure exactly the same as the recall done on the 2015 GMC Canyon in 2021. While I am driving, for the last 5 days, my power steering and stabilitrac will shut off, and a warning sign will appear on my dash. I have researched it fully and the same exact recall was done on the 2015 model, and a lot of people have complained about this issue. It is not safe and very difficult to steer while driving, especially at slow speeds.

ALL MY DASH LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON AND ALARMS GOING OFF. THE POER STEERING, ABS, CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY TRACK, PARKING BRAKE, BRAKE, ETC. IF I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF TO GET THIS TO STOP NOTHING WORKS WHEN I CRANK IT UP. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. IF I CRANK IT A COUPLE TIMES EVERYTHING GOES TO WORKING. THEN A FEW MILES IT ALL STARTS AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE APRIL. I HAVE PUT IT IN SHOP IN APRIL, THE DEALER COULDN'T GET IT TO DUPLICATE, IN MAY, SAME THING, IN JUNE THEY FINALLY GOT IT TO DUPLICATE AND CHANGED A MODULE. I…

THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN FROM APPROX 40 TO 20 THEN STEP ON THE GAS THE TRUCK HAS A LONG HESITATION. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK WANTS TO STALL OUT UNLESS YOU FLOOR IT.

THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT FROM A HIGH GEAR (5 OR 6) TO A LOWER GEAR WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 45 MPH TO 20 MPH (OR LOWER). WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE BUCKS, VIBRATES, AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE RPM DROPS TO 1,000 RPM OR LOWER. IF THE ACCELERATOR IS QUICKLY FLOORED THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS SEVERAL GEARS LOWER AND JERKS FORWARD. THIS CONDITION HAPPENS PRIMARILY ON SECONDARY ROADS WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD AND WHEN PULLING FROM ONE ROAD INTO TRAFFIC ON ANOTHER ROAD. THE SITUATION WHEN PULLING I…

I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2016 CANYON, TEST DRIVE WENT WELL, ALTHOUGH I ADMIT IT PROBABLY WASN'T LONG ENOUGH. PURCHASED ON SUNDAY, AND DURING THE NEXT WEEK DRIVING I BEGAN NOTICING THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING AT THE PROPER TIMES. LIKE MOST PEOPLE ON HERE, THE TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO BE VERY CONFUSED , ESPECIALLY WHEN DECELERATING INTO THE 20-35 MPG RANGE AND ATTEMPTING TO RE-ACCELERATE BACK UP. IT WILL MISFIRE OR BE VERY UNRESPONSIVE, AND THEN CLUNK AND JERK YOU FORWARD ONCE IT DECIDES TO CHANGE GEARS. IT ALSO DOES SOMETHING THAT I THINK IS …

This is the 4th time I have had a problem with my brakes. The brake pedal will be extremely hard to push to brake and this has happened while driving. The brake booster has been replaced 3 times now and is now at the dealership, where they have discovered that this is happening due to the break booster pump being bad. Now we get to add another $900 to this truck towards this problem. I am really surprised that there is no recall for this. This truck us not that old and we have had problems since we've owned it.

Driving and the Stabilitrak warning comes on as well as the Power steering warning. later after the vehicle is turned off it will not restart (no crank, no Start) and there is no communication with the ECM until it has had the battery disconnected for an extended period. This is very dangerous losing power steering and stabilitrak while driving is going to cause an accident. I would like to see a recall on the 2016 like there is on the 2015 with this same issue.
