SUN SHELL REPLACEMENT ON 2002 ENVOY XL. WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS DEFECTIVE COMPONENT. I WORKED FOR GM AND HAD NO PROBLEMS HAVING THIS DEFECTIVE COMPONENT REPLACED AT 100% DEALER CHARGE. WE PAID $0.000 (NOTHING) GM KNEW THEY HAD PROBLEMS AND DIDN'T' CORRECT THE PROBLEM. OURS FAILED 20 MINUTES AFTER HAVING A TRANSMISSION FLUSH/SERVICE WITH ONLY 35K MILES ON OUR 2002 VEHICLE. I WOULD FIGHT WITH THE DEALER. THERE ARE SERVICE BULLETINS OUT THERE REGARDING THE FAILURE AND REPLACEMENT OF THIS COMPONENT. OURS FAILED WHEN MY SPOUSE TRIE…

I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY I6 THAT I PURCHASED IN MARCH 2005. NOVEMBER OF 2006 WE REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO WHEN I WOULD FILL UP THE GAS TANK THE GAUGE WOULD GO TO EMPTY AND WOULD EVENTUALLY MAKE IT TO FULL AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES DRIVEN. NOW A YEAR AND A HALF LATER THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND WOULD COST AROUND $1100 TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY OF BEEN FIXED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN. *TR

GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY AT MOST TIMES, NEVER GIVES ACCURATE MEASURE OF TANK FILL. ALSO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON SPORADICALLY, ALTHOUGH DIAGNOSIS BY ENGINE TECH CONFIRMS NO BAD CODES ARE CAUSING THIS WARNING LIGHT TO GLOW. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND TALKING WITH DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECTIVE PART PROBLEM THAT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON. HUNDREDS, PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF FRUSTRATED DRIVERS. IT EFFECTS GMC ENVOYS, CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS, AND OTHER GM MAKES IN 2004 - 2006. THANK GOODNESS TAXPAYER DOLL…

HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH REAR TAIL LIGHT (STOP LIGHTS). WHEN I REPLACE THE BURNED OUT BULB, IT BURNS OUT WITHIN TWO WEEKS OR LESS. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BOARD THAT HOLDS THE BULBS WHICH COST ABOUT $40.00 EACH. HAVE REPLACED FOUR TIMES SINCE 2010. THERE APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM CAUSING THE BOARD TO BURN OUT. *TR

THE VERY SAME THING DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V755000, GM SAFETY RECALL 14291, BEGAN HAPPENING TO MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL. MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED OFF AND ON. IN TIME, MY HEADLIGHTS STAYED OFF LONGER AND LONGER. ONLY THE LOW BEAMS AND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE AFFECTED. WE STARTED NOTICING AFTER A FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION THE GAS GAUGE STILL SHOWED EMPTY. THE GAUGE TOOK OVER AN HOUR OF DRIVING TO MOVE UP TO FULL. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK LAST WEEK THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS AND STALLED. WE ADDED HALF A TANK, BUT THE GAUGE STILL SHOWED EMPTY THE NEXT FEW TIMES IT WAS DRIVEN SOMEWHERE. LAST WEEKEND I FILLED UP AGAIN AND THE GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY STILL WITH WARNING INDICATOR ON. AGAIN IT TOOK OVER AN HOUR OF DRIVING FOR THE GAUGE TO REGISTER THE TANK EVEN 3/4 FULL. *TR

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
