Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
09V042000 · Power Train:Driveline:Driveshaft
Reported: 2009-02-04 (February 4, 2009)
IZUSU IS RECALLING 2,836 MY 2008-2009 NPR/NQR AND NRR, GMC W3500, 4500 AND 5500, CHEVROLET W3500, 4500 AND 5500 TRUCKS. THE PROPELLER SHAFT WAS MANUFACTURED WITH INSUFFICIENT HIGH FREQUENCY HEAT TREATMENT. AS A RESULT, THE AFFECTED PORTION OF THE PROPELLER SHAFT MAY NOT MAINTAIN ITS DURABILITY THROUGH THE EXPECTED VEHICLE USEFUL LIFE.
Consequence: THE PROPELLER SHAFT COULD BREAK OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVING, WHICH WOULD RESULT IN THE VEHICLE STALLING AND COASTING TO A STOP, OR LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PROPELLER SHAFT FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 5, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ISUZU AT 1-866-441-9638.
NHTSA campaign record ↗17V324000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Accelerator Pedal
Reported: 2017-05-17 (May 17, 2017)
Isuzu Technical Center of America, Inc. (Isuzu) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 and 2012-2013 Isuzu NPR and NPR HD vehicles and 2008-2009 GMC W3500 and GMC W4500 vehicles. The affected vehicles, equipped with a gasoline-powered engine, have a throttle pedal that may get stuck under the steel stopper bolt, causing the pedal to remain in the full throttle position.
Consequence: A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.
Remedy: Isuzu will notify owners, and dealers will remove and replace the stopper bolt with a flanged plate, to prevent lateral movement of the throttle, free of charge. The recall began on June 23, 2017. Owners may contact Isuzu customer service at 1-866-441-9638.

Then I drove the other auto and realized that it was no coincidence that both airbags were disabled. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2008: 1 complaints · 2009: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2008 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2008 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
| 2009 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
