We were driving and went through a dip in the road and the whole front end of the A- Frame bent/buckled. We have not had any problems with this in the past, but it is a brand new trailer and we are learning it has happened to a few others all Grand Design XLS series. We wonder if the steel used is not of top quality and is too thin.

Crossmember connecting the rear of the Hitch A-frame is starting to buckle inward. From the research done, this is the first step in the complete failure of the A-frame. We just recently purchased the 2021 RV from a private seller and noticed the slight bend in crossmember but didnt think anything of it. After a 1500 mile trip the bend is much more pronounced. This is when I started to research to see if this was more prevalent in this model, which seems to be the case. Contacted frame builder (Lippert) and started the claim process with t…

The 2019 Grand Design Imagine Travel Trailer is built of a Lippert chassis, this chassis combined with the commonly used Equal-i-zer sway control hitch is resulting in the trailer safety chains being damaged, which may cause serious damage, injury or death if the trailer becomes separated from the tow vehicle hitch. I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable high…

I have received mail from the manufacturer, Grand Design, stating my RV is subject to NHTSA Recall No. 22V-308. They provided details to indicate my RV may have a cracked fitting in it's propane gas distribution system. A physical inspection must be performed, and the fitting must be replaced if it has a crack. Obviously, this is troubling because it represents a danger of fire, explosion, or both, in other words life threatening. I have moved 1,200 miles from where I lived when I purchased this RV, so returning to the franchised dealer who …

There is currently an rv recall coming out concerning 150,000 2021 through 2023 travel trailers and fifth wheels for a faulty quick disconnect fitting in the propane system, which can crack, leak, and cause fires. I own a 2020 Grand Design, Imagine, travel trailer which had the exact same defect as this list describes. I paid my rv dealership $539 on 10/11/21 to trace the propane leak and replace the same connector which was cracked, with no signs of trauma or damage. This recall needs to be expanded to include 2020 models for sure and other ma…

Trailer braking began to diminish most noticeably at highway speeds, making stopping distances much longer. Inspection of the brakes and wiring revealed two of the four electric brake wires had come loose from their type 314 connectors and were completely disconnected. The two affected brakes were the left and right side front wheels. Replacement of the connectors remedied the poor braking. I found the loose wiring myself while inspecting the tires before an upcoming trip. Attached photo shows connectors on the left front wheel with the loo…

WHEN I TOWED THE TRAILER, I NOTICED THE TRAILERS BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE TRAILER EVEN WHEN I ADJUSTED THE BRAKE CONTROLLER GAIN TO MAXIMUM. THINKING THE TRAILER BRAKES JUST NEEDED ADJUSTMENT, ON MAY 21, 2018, I TOOK THE TRAILER TO THE SELLING DEALER FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT NEED ADJUSTMENT. In September 2023, we purchased our 2024 Grand Design Imagine AIM RB travel trailer. We started receiving trailer brake warnings on our truck immediately after purchasing the camper and brought it back to the dealership. The service technicians assured us that there were no issues with the brakes. In January 2024, the brakes locked up and started burning while we were driving on [XXX] in the Phoenix metro area. Frame is cracked. Both sides frame rails have horizontal cracks forming near the leaf spring mount brackets. The structural integrity of our camper is now compromised. If a frame rail were to fail during travel, the loss of control to the tow vehicle would follow, most likely on public roadways. The crack will be present no matter who inspects it. The failure was noticed when I inspected the frame after being made aware of how common frame rail failures are with Grand Design products. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison
