Twice while at a busy intersection and after stopping, I inadvertently stalled the engine when releasing the clutch after stopping. While riding this motorcycle, I stopped for gas and then went to restart the motorcycle and the starter just "screeched" rather that starting the engine. On second attempt, the bike started however the normal idle RPMs of around 1200 went up to 4000 and would not drop back to normal RPM. (I have had this bike take as many as 4 start attempts, twice while stuck in busy intersections and previously reported to NHTSA the failure to start at busy intersections as a safety concern, This complaint is for a second/different safety concern.) 2021 Harley Pan America engine electrical/ engine issue the bike will lock itself at 4k rpm when applying throttle nothing will happen. The bike is stuck at 4k rpm and will force you to crawl and not let you speed up. Causing you to be in danger of vehicles and not being able to escape any situation. It will flash a check engine light and show that traction control, and general warning lights are active. The exhaust pipes will glow yellow in this limo mode and you can smell something burning. This bike will also have a fault in which the bike …
The radiator hose on the right side is not tightly clamped to the radiator hose mount. Vibration causes it to slip backward and contact the exhaust header which burns the radiator hose and causing catastrophic loss of coolant which can lead to engine seizure. Engine seizure while riding puts the rider, any passengers, and other motorists at risk.
The fuel pump on my HD motorcycle had been making lots of noise. I had it in the shop for this reason before.. The bike was supposed to be fixed.. I went for a ride with my son and when I pulled out on the highway getting up to highway speed the bike quit without warning.. The motorcycle has no power when passing a vehicle do to a bad stator and charging system. Harley Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain 2021 Pan America 1250S (RA1250S), Pan America 1250 (RA1250), and Sportster S (RH1250S) motorcycles. The instrument cluster module may not display the speedometer and neutral indicator at start-up when the module is below freezing temperatures. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."
Consequence: Operating a motorcycle without a visible speedometer or neutral indicator may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will update the instrument cluster module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 8, 2022. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0631.

The TFT (display) intermittently goes black while riding and / or when starting. This is a huge safe issue. You don’t know if the gear is in neutral, turn signals engine temperature, etc cannot be monitored… the biggest issues when you come to a stop and you don’t know what gear you are in causing stalling in high traffic areas, intersections, etc. Harley is well aware of the issue and refuses to correct this issue. I’ve complained several times and they have not fixed the issue.
My Pan America completely shut down on two occasions. One time at speed another event,in traffic. The motorcycle just shut down causing me to drop it to one side and the other time I made it to the shoulder. The motorcycle is brand new with only 200 miles and two catastrophic failures

Throttle tends to rev and stick at 4000rpm randomly. Not sure if this is caused by the system software or hardware failure or both. Once this happens the engine functions erratically and the exhaust pipes will heat up until they are red hot and will melt and cause a fire or explosion in the vehicle. The dealership and the manufacturer have been made aware of this tremendous vehicle safety hazard and I am filing this complaint to the NHTSA to ensure that this case is noticed and handled appropriately. The motorcycle was bought new in January and it has a problem occasionally where when stopping and using the quick shifter to down shift the bike jumps up in RPM and surges forward uncontrollably. This overpowers the brakes and causes a far longer stopping distance than what is planned. I have been to Brandywine Harley Davidson and Rommel Harley Davidson and they both told me that I would have to pay between 75 to 120$ just for them to do a diagnostics on it. Two issues. Please consider ordering a recall for this 2022 year model. 1. Passenger grab rail. The first time I pulled up on the rail to place the motorcycle on the center stand (as instructed in the owners manual), the grab handle broke, separated from the dowl connecting point. Had this occurred while riding with a passenger this could have led to my passenger falling off the bike. It is useless now. The service manager at the Harley-Davidson dealership says they cannot fix it as the bike is out of warranty. It is a defect. 2. The coolant h…

Harley Davidson did not coat the inside of the Fuel Tanks on the Panamerica from the 1st model year in 2021 until the mid-2024 model year. Because of these uncoated fuel tanks, people are experiencing a high rate of fuel pump failures at low mileage (5-10K) due to the interaction of the ethanol in today's fuels, and the uncoated aluminum motorcycle gas tanks. Harley Davidson essentially acknowledged the mistake by starting to coat the inside of the fuel tanks from the mid-2024 model and on. A new Fuel Pump from Harley is $400 here in CA, and …

While riding this motorcycle, I stopped for gas and then went to restart the motorcycle and the starter just "screeched" rather that starting the engine. On second attempt, the bike started however the normal idle RPMs of around 1200 went up to 4000 and would not drop back to normal RPM. The motorcycle is currently at the dealer Loss of power when passing a vehicle Yes this issue has been confirmed by the dealer No warning lights or messages. There are no replacement parts for this issue other then upgrading the charging system to the 24 model
