DEAR SIR , THE SPEED SENSOR IN THE MOTORBIKE FAILED AT LOW SPEED . AS THIS SENDS THE INFORMATION TO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND YOUR SPEEDOMETER . MODEL IS HARLEY DAVIDSON XL 883N IRON THE MOTORBIKE HAS CHANGES OF POWER AND HICCUPS DUE TO THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM NOT RECEIVING ANY INFORMATION , SO FUEL FLOW IS INTERRUPTED . AS YOU PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STANDSTILL YOU CAN HAVE A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER . YOU ALSO WILL NOT KNOW YOUR SPEED AS THE SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORKS. THE LEFT SIDE BATTERY COVER COMES DOWN AND IMPAIRS THE OPERATORS ABILITY TO SHIFT AND MANAGE THE MOTORCYCLE. THE LEFT SIDE COVER BREAKS FREE AT THE TOP AND HANGS DOWN ON THE LOWER HOOK BRACKET. THE BARREL CLIPS "ON THE COVER" AND SOCKET CLIPS "ON THE FRAME" DO NOT SECURE THE COVER CORRECTLY. ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP TECHNICIANS, THE ISSUE HAPPENS FROM ENGINE HEAT, VIBRATION, AND INTERNAL MOTORCYCLE COMPONENTS PUSHING AGAINST THE COVER. HARLEY DAVIDSON UPGRADED THE CLIPS IN 2013; HOWEVER, THE ISSUE MADE NEWER 2014 MODELS WORSE. THE COVER COM…

WHILE RIDING (IN MOTION) THE MOTORCYCLES ENGINE COMPLETELY STOPS RUNNING, WITH NO SPARK TO THE ENGINE, CAUSING NO ACCELERATION SPEED CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE (YOUR BASICALLY COASTING WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING). Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
