17V288000 · Interior Lighting

Reported: 2017-05-01 (May 1, 2017)

Highland Ridge RV (Highland Ridge) is recalling certain 2017 Open Range, Highlander, Light and Roamer and Mesa Ridge fifth wheels and Mesa Ridge, Light, Roamer and Ultra Lite travel trailers. The LED ceiling lights may produce excessive heat.

Consequence: The excessive heat from the LED ceiling lights may increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Highland Ridge will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected LED ceiling lights with a different light, free of charge. The recall began on May 23, 2017. Owners may contact Highland Ridge customer service at 1-260-768-7771. Highland Ridge's number for this recall is 9904350.

not notified by westlake tires of nhtsa recall on tires installed on my RV contact with westlake has been ignored by them. All 4 tires ST235/85R16 132 127 g were recalled. should tires come apart while in transit could cause extensive property damage and/or injury/death. Tires were inspected by service manager at dealership Horizon RV Valdosta GA and informed me of tires being unsafe due to sidewalls cracking and should be replaced.Learned of recall while in FL by other Campers. Upon research recall was found. tires have not yet failed however …

I was towing the trailer from Myrtle Beach, SC to Topping, VA. We had completed 286 miles of the trip and stopped for fuel and a 1 hour break in Stony Creek, VA. Upon stopping for fuel I walked around the trailer and checked the temperature of the tires and checked for any issues that could be seen during an inspection, such as irregular tread wear, punctures, and other damages that could have placed the tire in jeopardy. The contact owns a 2019 Highland Ridge Highland RV. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH and hauling the travel trailer, the axle weld and frame fractured. The contact was unable to pull the trailer. The contact stated that the road was bumpy while driving. The vehicle was towed. There was a fire within the axle three years prior. Lippert Industries, the manufacturer, was contacted by phone. The insurance company inspected the trailer and determined there was a manufacturer defect. The contact owns a 2018 Highland Ridge Highlander. The contact stated that the welding on the slider would fail to slide back inwards correctly. The vehicle was repaired however the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who informed that the welding was done incorrectly. The reoccurred failure had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was made aware and confirmed the coverage was no longer available. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.
