18V848000 · Structure:Body:Roof And Pillars

Reported: 2018-11-28 (November 28, 2018)

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Honda Ridgeline and Pilot vehicles. The mounting holes for the clip that secures the right center pillar trim panel may be larger than intended. In the event of a crash necessitating right side curtain air bag deployment, the clip may not hold the center pillar trim panel in position and it may potentially interfere with the curtain air bag deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection," and 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

Consequence: In the event of a crash, if the curtain air bag does not deploy as intended, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket on the right center pillar that will securely hold the center pillar trim clip, free of charge. The recall began January 22, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is D3D.

Reported: 2019-10-31 (October 31, 2019)

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Pilot and 2019 Passport vehicles. The front frame left and right side upper members may not have been welded completely to the unibody. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 219, "Windshield Zone Intrusion."

Consequence: In the event of a crash, incomplete body welding may provide inadequate protection to occupants, increasing the risk of an injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle for missing welds, free of charge. If the vehicle is identified as missing welds, the dealer will offer to repurchase the vehicle or provide a similar replacement vehicle. Owner notification began November 6 2019. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey, 2019-2020 Passport, and 2019-2021 Pilot vehicles. Incorrect instrument panel control module software can cause the instrument panel to not display critical information, such as engine oil pressure, speedometer, and gear selector position until the next ignition cycle. Additionally, it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 111, "Rearview Mirrors."

Consequence: Overcured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation, which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect all four tires and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 22, 2021. Owners may contact American Honda Motor Co. customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is UA2.

I leased a brand new 2022 Honda Pilot and after two weeks of leasing it developed a severe leaking problem with the transmission. The pilot was taken to a local dealer, the local dealer refused service. It was then taken to the original dealer, and the original dealer replaced the transmission. There was some sort of metallurgical fault or defect with the transmission casing, necessitating replacement of the entire transmission. The vehicle had less than 500 miles when this happened.

The vehicle since purchase has a delay of a few seconds after hitting the gas pedal to move forward.

The idle-stop feature on our 2019 Honda Pilot is faulty. The idle-stop is intended to shut off the engine, or put it into an idling state, at stop lights in order to improve fuel efficiency. However, on a recurring basis (at least once a week, often times several times per week), our Pilot will shut off at a stop light and fail to restart. This at a minimal causes the car to get stuck in traffic or create traffic issues at stoplights, and at worse (in a situation like today), it causes our car to stall out in the middle of a busy intersectio…

I believe this car was subject to the recall where something about the AIS system needed to be fixed. The initial problem was the car would stall out at lights when the AIS system was activated. I went in for the recall and had not experienced the problem since. That’s until the past couple days where the problem is back to occurring when I’m stopped at a light and fully depressed the brake, the car stops idling and fails to restart creating a dangerous condition in traffic. During 2 other instances, the system failed and vehicle would not start on a public street. Brake system warning light is also on. I don’t have a towing system installed- so that’s odd to get a warning for trailer stability. I had an oil change @ 101076 miles, on 19 November 2024, and my tires were rotated at that time. This issue repeated itself today, 21 November 2024.

WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NEEDED SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL IS TO EXCESSIVE. THE BRAKES ARE SLOW TO RESPOND AS IF THEY ARE NOT WORKING AND THEN THEY GRAB SUDDENLY WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS VERY UNNERVING AS YOU THINK YOU ARE LOOSING CONTROL OF THE CAR. NORMALLY I HAVE TO TAP THE BRAKE PEDAL LET OFF AND GET BACK ON THE BRAKE PEDAL QUICKLY FOR THE BRAKES TO RESPOND NORMALLY OR HAVE A GOOD BRAKE PEDAL FEEL. I AM GETTING TIRED OF DOING THIS EVERY TIME TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HONDA CANNOT BE SERIOUS THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THIS IS A…

STARTED SEEING THIS PROBLEM FROM DAY 1. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT'S AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. YOU HAVE TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES REALLY HARD TO GET ANY KIND OF DECENT STOPPING. SEEMS LIKE THE BRAKE CYLINDER HAS NO PRESSURE OR LEAKING. BRAKES ARE TOO SOFT AND THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET ANY DECENT BRAKING. EVEN AT THE STOP LIGHTS, YOU HAVE TO KEEP A VERY HIGH PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE SURE THE CAR DOESN'T START MOVING AND SLAM INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY APPLY A HIGH PRESSUR…

I PURCHASED BRAND NEW ELITE 2019 PILOT IN APRIL OF 2019. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE I HAD HORRIBLE STATIC COMING THROUGH ALL SPEAKERS, AT TIMES VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, RANDOMLY THE VEHICLE WOULD SENSE A COLLISION EVEN WHEN I WAS ONLY ONE ON ROAD, WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON RANDOMLY AND OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES WOULD OCCUR, BRAKE LIGHT FLASHES RANDOMLY. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT ALL. . I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THREE TIMES NOW AND EVERY TIME I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO TAKE VIDEOS OF…

The battery to my pilot failed with either no warning or previous misdiagnosis by two different Honda dealerships. The part is no longer available as I returned it for a core charge. I'm not sure if there are codes in my vehicle that could be retrieved. On Saturday February 12, I was driving my wife and two children in the vehicle ages 3 and 5. The vehicle was stopped at one stoplight, the engine shut-off as part of the auto start/stop and when it did the auto restart the infotainment glitched. It had been doing that off and on for a while…

Twice since purchasing the vehicle last year the automatic start/stop feature on the Honda has failed to restart the engine once we took our foot off the brake pedal. The first time was more than six months ago. We were at a light and the vehicle did not start after taking my foot off the brake when the light turned green. I tried putting it in park and then restarting the vehicle with the touch button but it didn't work. I tried with the remote start feature on the key and it would not start that way. At this point traffic was honking and goin…

On 4-30-21, my 2019 Honda Pilot was repaired per recall for sudden loud speaker popping. I'd complained about that issue since buying the car. I'd also complained since purchase about frequent false collision mitigation system errors some of which engaged the brakes. On Monday May 3, 2021 I was on a highway off-ramp going about 30 MPH when my steering wheel suddenly locked up, the collision mitigation system sounded, the brakes engaged, and the car began to swerve into the oncoming lane over the double yellow lines. I was momentarily unable to…

Fuel started to pour from under the vehicle above the gas tank. The seal on the fuel pump was causing this when the vehicle was turned on. The fuel pump was on recall for this failure and the vehicle was towed to the Honda AutoNation Dealership in Mobile, AL. While there the franchise dealership executed Safety Recall 21-034 on my 2019 Honda Pilot; the fuel pump. The technician then sent us a video saying the fuel pump did not fix the problem as a rodent had chewed through the fuel line near the fuel pump above the gas tank. He did not show an …
