SOMETIME IN JUNE I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2008 HONDA SHADOW SPIRIT VT750C2 FROM DRYER HONDA SOUTH IN NEW WHITELAND, IN. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS GAS LEAKING ONTO THE ENGINE AND A HOUSING THAT WAS NEXT TO THE ENGINE. I FOUND ONLINE A RECALL FOR THAT PARTICULAR BIKE THAT WAS FOR A GAS LEAK. I BROUGHT THE BIKE BACK TO DRYER AND SHOWED THEM THE SPOTS ON THE BIKE WHERE THE GAS WAS LEAKING. AFTER KEEPING THE BIKE FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A LEAK. I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2008 HONDA SHADOW AERO AND THE PETCOCK LEAKS. EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A RECALL I HAVE HAD TO COMPLAIN TO THE BBB AGAINST NOT ONLY THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE HONDA CORP AS WELL AND STILL YET MY PETCOCK LEAKS. IT HAS BEEN SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES YET NO RESOLUTION. I TURNED THIS OVER TO A LEMON LAW FIRM BUT HONDA STILL DID NOTHING ABOUT THE ONGOING PROBLEM. WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE FAILURES OCCURRED EVERY TIME SHE USED THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT DID NOT WANT TO USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. HONDA IS RECALLING 38,934 MY 2006-2007 VT600 AND MY 2007-2008 VT750 AND VTX1300 MOTORCYCLES. THE MOTORCYCLES MAY HAVE AN IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED FUEL CONTROL VALVE DIAPHRAGM AND THE FUEL VALVE MAY DRIP FUEL.
Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, DRIPPING FUEL POSES THE RISK OF FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL CONTROL VALVE DIAPHRAGM ASSEMBLY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 22, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-866-784-1870.

The handlebars and front suspension develop a wobble at approximately 40 mph on up through 50 mph. Above 50 I believe the vibrations are happening so fast it feels a little smoother. However, with the throttle closed and deacceleration down through 50 through 30 mph the handlebars developed a significant death wobble. If you lighten or relax your grip on the handlebars, it is visibly shaking back to forth and is quite alarming. The Honda motor motorcycle dealer is unable to diagnose.

WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE FAILURES OCCURRED EVERY TIME SHE USED THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT DID NOT WANT TO USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 799 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 750.
