Recall history
6 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
06V231000 · Parking Brake:Conventional:Air
Reported: 2006-06-28 (June 28, 2006)
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH SR-7 BENDIX BRAKE VALVES, THE CHECK VALVE INSIDE THE VALVE CAVITY MAY NOT PROPERLY SET, CAUSING INTERNAL AIR LEAKAGE. IF THE CHECK VALVE DOES NOT PROPERLY SEAT, THE RESULTING LEAKAGE CAN CAUSE A DELAY IN THE APPLICATION OF THE SPRING BRAKES TO PARK THE VEHICLE AFTER OPERATOR PULLS THE DASH VALVE BUTTON.
Consequence: THE DELAYED PARKING BRAKE APPLICATION CAN OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING, LEADING TO UNINTENDED VEHICLE ROLLAWAY INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VALVES AND REPLACE IT FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 21, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
NHTSA campaign record ↗06V384000 · Suspension
Reported: 2006-10-11 (October 11, 2006)
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH CHALMERS REAR SUSPENSIONS, THE ADJUSTABLE TORQUE ROD END CASTINGS MAY BE BRITTLE. A BRITTLE ROD END CASTING MAY FRACTURE WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE VEHICLES' REAR AXLES TO BECOME MISALIGNED.
Consequence: THIS MISALIGNMENT CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOSE DIRECTIONAL STABILITY AT SPEEDS THAT MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES TO DETERMINE IF THEY WERE MANUFACTURED WITH A SUSPECT TORQUE ROD END. IF A SUSPECT TORQUE ROD END IS FOUND, THE ENTIRE TORQUE ROD WILL BE REPLACED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 6, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V179000 · Suspension:Rear:Axle:Non-Powered Axle Assembly
Reported: 2007-04-24 (April 24, 2007)
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, ONE OR BOTH REAR AXLE HOUSINGS MAY CONTAIN THINNER MATERIAL THAN WHAT IS NECESSARY FOR NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. OVER TIME, THIS THINNER MATERIAL MAY RESULT IN A FATIGUE FAILURE OF THE REAR AXLE HOUSING, POSSIBLY IN THE LOCATION OF THE BRAKE FLANGE.
Consequence: A CRACK IN THE BRAKE FLANGE LOCATION OF THE REAR AXLE HOUSING MAY RESULT IN A WHEEL END LOCKUP OR WHEEL SEPARATION POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE'S REAR AXLES AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE AXLE HOUSINGS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 18, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7815.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V222000 · Suspension:Rear:Axle:Spindle
Reported: 2007-06-04 (June 4, 2007)
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE REAR-REAR AXLE BRAKE SLACK ADJUSTERS MAY CONTACT THE REAR AXLE HOUSING PREVENTING THE BRAKES FROM BEING FULLY APPLIED POSSIBLY CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES.
Consequence: EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES CAN CONTRIBUTE TO A VEHICLE CRASH THAT MAY RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL REAR-REAR AXLE BRAKE SPIDERS WITH A SPIDER THAT HAS A DIFFERENT BRAKE GROUP CLOCKING ANGLE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 29, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT INTERNATIONAL AT 1-800-448-7825.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V314000 · Parking Brake

ON CERTAIN 6X4 OR 6X6 TRUCKS WITH AIR BRAKES OR TRACTORS WITH AIR BRAKES AND EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVES, THE INTERNAL RUBBER CHECK VALVE MAY LEAK CAUSING A DELAY IN THE APPLICATION OF THE SPRING BRAKES TO PARK THE VEHICLE AFTER THE OPERATOR PULLS THE DASH VALVE BUTTON.
Consequence: THIS COULD DELAY OR FAILURE IN APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKES WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ROLL AWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: INTERNATIONAL IS WORKING WITH BENDIX TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE SEE 07E-037). BENDIX WILL INSTALL A CHECK VALVE REPAIR KIT FOR THE AFFECTED SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2007. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2010: 0 complaints · 2011: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2011 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2010 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2011 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
