26V059000 · Electrical System: Integrated Trailer Brake Control | Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal | Exterior Lighting:Brake Lights

Reported: 2026-02-02 (February 2, 2026)

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, Ram 4500 Cab Chassis, Ram 5500 Cab Chassis, and 2026 Jeep Cherokee vehicles. Due to an improperly designed trailer tow module, the trailer lights may fail to illuminate and the trailer brakes may fail.

Consequence: Trailer brake lights and turn signals that do not illuminate reduce visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, trailer brakes that fail increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the trailer tow module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning March 17, 2026. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 03D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on February 10, 2026.

Service Electrical System - Consistent error when driving the vehicle - not reproducible as it will appear 5 minutes into operation or after a number of cycles. Currently on 2 visits to the service department for this error. After the 2nd visit, they performed actuator calibration. Assumed it was sorted after a number of test drives to re-create. Vehicle would not respond to any driver controls upon entering vehicle, disabled drive and stated the vehicle was being charged even though we were in the middle of an empty parking lot while shopping. I tried to shut it off in an effort to reset the systems but the vehicle would not shut down no matter what I did. Tried multiple times and it sat there with the charging in use indications and would not respond to any driver inputs. With no choice I exited the vehicle to go and get some assistance but the vehicle (currently on) would not lock…

The vehicle is scheduled to return to the dealership again. Multiple safety-critical systems are affected. I believe this is an ongoing electrical system failure in a new vehicle, putting both the driver and passengers at risk.

While traveling on the interstate at approximately 70 mph, I pressed the accelerator pedal to increase speed. Instead of accelerating, the vehicle suddenly jerked, and the wheels locked up as though the brakes engaged on their own. I continued pressing the accelerator, but the vehicle rapidly decelerated without responding to throttle input. The most concerning part was that the brake lights did not illuminate while the vehicle slowed down, which created an extreme safety hazard because drivers behind me had no warning that I was slowing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The car died/bricked up 2 days ago 7 days after owning the vehicle. They said it was a cell in the 12 volt battery. Just picked it up and drove it for 30 minutes it threw up a turtle error and jerked forward a few times Almost hit a pedestrian and a car in front of me. I parked it and getting it towed. It seems according to other owners these things are all bad.

I was stopped at a red light on a busy road. When it turned green and i accelerated the car would not move. It jerked and the dash lit up lioke a Christmas tree. A big red turtle came up on the dash and I was able to move but only 5-7 miles per hour. I drove the 8 -9 mile home at only 7 miles an hour while being honked at and near misses from the heavy trraffic. The vehiocle was towed to the dealership and I am being told that the manufacturer is aware of the problem but there is no current fix. They may actually try to return the vcehicle to m…

While driving on the interstate, the vehicle went into “limp” mode and showed a turtle on my screen. From there, my vehicle decelerated drastically from 80 to 40 and did not allow me to accelerate. The screen showed a message that stated the systems were shutting down. My vehicle continued to decelerate as I tried to get to a safe spot out of the interstate lanes. After “resetting” the vehicle and waiting approx 20 min, the vehicle turned on as if nothing happened. This has happened 3 separate times in the span of a month.

1. Brake Booster Failure: On [XXX], my Wagoneer S experienced a brake booster failure, rendering the brakes inoperable. The vehicle displayed multiple error messages but still showed a misleading “Ready to Drive” message, falsely indicating it was safe to operate. The SUV was towed to SouthPointe Jeep in Tulsa on June 28, 2025. 1) Keyless entry/auto lock/unlock has been an issue since we leased the car, and it remains. CarPlay maps on the dashboard are not in sync with reality (even on the short ride home) often displaying the steering wheel icon and/or “0 m” directions that make no sense with the reality of where I was driving. After a brief stop on the way home, I turned the car on and the emergency brake initiated itself, as it so often has since we leased the car. This is made even worse by the fact that they turned off a collision safety feature to fix this issue…

Purchased the car on 5/16 and it’s been at the dealership since 5/23. Was driving and I received a message telling me to “stop safely, vehicle will shit off soon”. Car immediately slowed drastically and the wheel jerked forcing my car to swerve into the next lane on the interstate. Was barely able to pull the car over safely without getting crushed on the highway. Have opened a case with Jeep Customer care and been in contact with the dealership. I was driving in my son’s school car line when the car jolted and a red turtle appeared on the screen with a stability warning as well. The car would not accelerate but would then unexpectedly accelerate on its own. I had to diligently keep my foot in the brake as well as accelerate. The car wouldn’t go over 10ish mph. I held up traffic until I could get to an empty parking lot to turn off the car. Had I been on a busy interstate I could have been seriously injured and so could others. I’ve only had the suv 3 months and the service electric sys…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

Components reported together

Each cell counts unique complaints naming both components. Open a nonzero cell for examples.
