Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

10V594000 · Electrical System

Reported: 2010-11-23 (November 23, 2010)

KEYSTONE IS RECALLING CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS WITH A GENERATOR READY OPTION. IF THE TRANSFER SWITCH IS NOT INSTALLED TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATIONS, THE ELEVATED ELECTRICAL LOADS ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE USE IN HIGHER AMBIENT TEMPERATURES MAY CAUSE OVERHEATING OF THE LUGS AND DEGRADING OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.

Consequence: OVERHEATING OF THE CONNECTIONS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE TRANSFER SWITCH IF NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY WAS SUPERCEDED BY CAMPAIGN 11V-577. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-866-425-4369.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
11V577000 · Electrical System

Reported: 2011-12-08 (December 8, 2011)

KEYSTONE HAS REVISED THEIR REMEDY PROCESS AND IS AGAIN RECALLING CERTAIN 2009-2011 VEHICLES WITH THE “GENERATOR READY” OPTION, OR WITH STANDARD GENERATOR. SEE THE LIST ABOVE FOR THE AFFECTED MODELS. SOME IOTA ITS-50R TRANSFER SWITCHES ARE EXPERIENCING FAILURES WHEN EXPOSED TO HIGH ELECTRICAL LOADS. THE FAILURE IS CAUSING CONNECTIONS AND WIRING IN THE TRANSFER SWITCH TO DEGRADE AND OVER HEAT.

Consequence: CONTINUED USE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT REPLACING THE TRANSFER SWITCH MAY DAMAGE OTHER APPLIANCES, INCREASE THE RISK OF A FIRE, PERSONAL INJURY, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.

Remedy: KEYSTONE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TRANSFER SWITCH, FREE OF CHARGE. THE REMEDY FOR THE PREVIOUS RECALL (10V-594) WAS TO INSPECT AND TIGHTEN THE SWITCH CONNECTIONS. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 24, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-866-425-4369.

17V755000 · Equipment

Reported: 2017-11-22 (November 22, 2017)

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-574-535-2100, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. Keystone's number for this recall is 17-307.

WE PURCHASED A 2013 KEYSTONE AVALANCHE WHICH WAS EQUIPPED WITH TOW MASTER TIRES SIZE ST235/80R/16 WE WERE GOING ON OUR THIRD TRIP BUT FORTUNATELY BEFORE LEAVING A SIDEWALL BULGE WAS NOTICED THE TIRE ONLY HAD ABOUT 1,200 MILES ON IT. WE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE BUT TOW MASTER ALTHOUGH ADMITTING THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE WOULD ONLY REIMBURSE US A SMALL PORTION OF WHAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT TIRE THIS HAPPENED IN APPROXIMATELY AUGUST 2013. IN 2014 WE LEFT FOR A TRIP FROM ALBUQUERQUE NM TO AZ I CHECKED THE TIRES BEFORE LEAVING FOUR HOURS IN…

I have HiSpec ST235/80R16 tires on my Fifth wheel. Every time I tow my rig I fear the worst because of the tires. These tires according to the forums are notorious for catastrophic failure without notice. When they fail they take out whatever is above them such as slide outs. Why are rv companies putting on these Chinese Time Bombs? They should not be on the road what so ever because of how they can fail without notice. I have been lucky so far but I am having to fork out 1300 dollars for new tires from Hercules. Pull these tires off the…

This was part of a prior recall. Vehicle Information : Keystone RV Company SEP 29, 2022 22V-726 22-437. We had it repaired because we lost our footpad shortly after purchasing the trailer. The recall was issued in 2022. Memorial Day weekend 2024 the exact same footpad came off again after supposedly being repaired at the dealership. It caused tire damage that had to be replaced. Luckily no one was injured.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
