Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

90V013000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 1990-01-24 (January 24, 1990)

TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE RECOMMENDED FOR REAR TIRE WILL NOT SUPPORT GROSS AXLE WEIGHT RATING; ALSO, WHEEL RIMS ARE NOT STAMPED DOT.

Consequence: DURING HEAVY TOWING OR HAULING OF HEAVY LOADS, INFLATION OF REAR TIRES WOULD PRESENT A RISK OF TIRE FAILURE AND VEHICLES WOULD NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS 120.

Remedy: PROVIDE CORRECT TIRE INFLATION INFORMATION ON A NEW COMBINED CERTIFICATION - TIRE INFORMATION LABEL, AND STAMP WHEEL RIMS WITH DOT.

90V019000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Pedals And Linkages

Reported: 1990-02-09 (February 9, 1990)

IMPROPERLY MACHINED BRAKE PEDAL TO PUSH ROD PIVOT BOLTS HAVE A TENDENCY TO WORK THEMSELVES LOOSE FROM THE RETAINING NUT, WHICH COULD LEAD TO BRAKE FAILURE.

Consequence: IF THE NUT WORKED ITSELF LOOSE, PIVOT BOLT WOULD FALL OUT, LEAVING THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM THE BRAKE BOOSTER REACTION ROD, WHICH WOULD DISABLE THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM AND LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REPLACE PIVOT BOLT AND NUT WITH UPGRADED BOLT AND NUT LOCK.

Reported: 1990-07-17 (July 17, 1990)

DESIGN DEFECT OF THE SEALING GROMMET CAUSES INADEQUATE SEALING OF FUEL FILLER NECK AT THE FUEL TANK, WHICH MAY RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE.

Consequence: LEAKING FUEL COULD CATCH FIRE IF AN IGNITION SOURCE IS

Remedy: INSTALL REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK AND HARDWARE.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
