Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V337000 · Electrical System:Software | Fuel System, Gasoline

Reported: 2018-05-23 (May 23, 2018)

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2017 Land Rover Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Discovery vehicles. The fuel gauge on these vehicles may indicate that the fuel level is low and illuminate the warning lamp, when the fuel tank actually has more fuel. The engine management software may also cut off the engine when the vehicle has traveled approximately 17 more miles.

Consequence: If the engine were to shut off, it can cause loss of power brake assistance. An engine stall would cause a loss of drive power. Both scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will install a software update to correct the fuel level reading, free of charge. The recall began on June 22, 2018. Owners may Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N206.

20V143000 · Electrical System:Software | Exterior Lighting

Reported: 2020-03-12 (March 12, 2020)

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Discovery vehicles equipped with low line headlight assemblies. When towing a trailer with the trailer lights connected to the trailer socket and the vehicle's Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are on, the trailer lights may not function.

Consequence: If the trailer lights are not working, following traffic won't be aware the vehicle is slowing down or stopping, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Body Control Module software, free of charge. The recall began April 13, 2020. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N428.

23V393000 · Electrical System: Instrument Cluster/Panel | Latches/Locks/Linkages:Doors:Latch

Reported: 2023-06-01 (June 1, 2023)

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Land Rover Discovery vehicles. The UniLatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry function may fail to properly latch the rear passenger doors, which can result in the doors opening while driving. In addition, the instrument cluster open-door warning light may fail to alert the driver of this condition.

Consequence: Rear passenger doors that open while driving can increase the risk of a crash. An instrument cluster warning light that fails to alert the driver about unsecured doors can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will disable the UniLatch Keyless Vehicle (KV) entry function, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 26, 2023. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N798.

I was in a parking lot adjusting settings via the touch screen when the vehicle suddenly deactivated the key fob rendering the vehicle useless. The only option was to get the spare key to start the vehicle. This presents a safety issue for all occupants if the vehicle is disabled because of a malfunction with the key, potentially leaving people stranded in a unsafe environment.

WHEN VEHICLE IS UNDER 10 MILES AN HOUR OR BRIEFLY STOPPED AND PRESSURE IS REMOVED FROM ACCELERATOR, WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR TO MOVE AGAIN THERE IS A 1-2 SECOND DELAY IN RESPONSE. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE IN WRONG GEAR THEN SHIFTS AFTER A DELAY RESULTING IN CAR NOT RESPONDING TO THROTTLE INPUT THEN JUMPING UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN EXECUTING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS INTO TRAFFIC SINCE CAR DOESN'T RESPOND AS EXPECTED AND NORMAL. VERY EASY TO REPRODUCE THIS ISSUE.

THIS VEHICLE HAS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN ACCELERATING AWAY FROM AN INTERSECTION, WHETHER STOPPED OR AT A LOW SPEED, THERE IS A SERIOUS LAG BEFORE ACCELERATION KICKS IN AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES. IT'S LIKE THE VEHICLE IS WAITING (WAY) TOO LONG TO DOWNSHIFT AND PULL AWAY, AND WANTS INSTEAD TO SLOOOOOOOWLY BUILD SPEED WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE AT INTERSECTIONS. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO FLOOR IT, RESULTING IN UNSAFE AND JERKY ACCELERATION.

The windshield failed allowing rain water to pool in the floorboards of the vehicle. The electronics were destroyed, the damage done was well above $20,000.00. Land Rover didn’t take any responsibility as it was 40 days outside of warranty. The car had less than 40,000 miles on it. Likely my insurance kicked in and declared the vehicle a total loss.

Driving down the highway, the vehicle all the sudden started smoking, forcing me to pull over. Upon pulling over, I found it was a fire under the left front hood based on the smoke pouring out. I called 911 immediately. I attempted to save some belongings, including my $200K boat, but failed to save anything as the fire rapidly grew forcing me to step far away. I then watched my car, boat and belongings all perish to nearly nothing before the fire department arrived and put out the fire. While I am lucky to be safe and have adequate insurance, …

Had engine cooling system repaired at dealer in 2023. In late 2024/early 2025 - engine coolant loss returned. We maintained engine coolant at recommended levels until we could get vehicle into dealership for diagnosis and repair. During routine local trip, low coolant light suddenly came on and immediately following that, engine stopped in the middle of traffic. Wife was barely able to navigate vehicle to safe place alongside the road. Vehicle was towed to dealer. They diagnosed engine failure due to oil cooling system failure. We contac…

I have a 2017 Land Rover Discovery with multiple episodes of significant water leakage problems due to a known windshield seal issue on the model as identified by the dealer. During the warranty the windshield and seal were replaced and would then fail twice, on the 2nd occurrence I instructed to the dealer to notate my account with concerns about electrical issues due to the amount of water that entered the dashboard, center console, and overhead electrical. Reviewing my own service records I can see electrical problems occurred on the vehicle…
