THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE 2006-2008 WIRING HARNESS RESULTING IN A FAULT WITH THE AIRBAGS. LEXUS HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE INFORMATION BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE (L-SB-0167-08) HOWEVER NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THIS FAULT CAUSES THE AIRBAGS TO FAIL AND NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR.....UPDATED 12/03/15 *BF UPDATED 8/23/2017*CN

I WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 LEXUS IS ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 13, 2013. I REAR ENDED A TOYOTA SEQUOIA TRUCK. MY CAR SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE, YET THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE AIR BAG SENSOR AT THE FRONT BUMPER WAS DESTROYED IN THE CRASH. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BEFORE THIS ACCIDENT, AND NO REPAIR WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON THE CAR OTHER THAN ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND RECALL REPAIRS. *TR

DASHBOARD HAS DEVELOPED A STICKY, SHINY APPEARANCE. DEALERSHIP HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THESE MODELS HAVE THIS PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY. THE SHINY APPEARANCE MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD IN STRONG SUNLIGHT. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. WILL THE AIRBAG DEPLOY PROPERLY WITH A STICKY SURFACE? *TR

"TAKATA RECALL" I WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF I CAN JUST HAVE THE AIRBAGS TAKEN OUT. IT IS RIDICULOUS TO NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE PEOPLE IN MY CAR WHILE DRIVING. HOW DO I KNOW IF IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS SOUND LIKE THEY CAN HURT MORE THAN JUST THE PASSENGERS. I FEEL IT IS MY RIGHT TO HAVE THE BAGS TAKEN OUT AND TO DEPEND ON THE TRUSTY SEATBELT. CAN I HAVE THIS DONE AT NO CHARGE TO ME? WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. THE WIPERS 'FROZE' IN THE UP POSITION. I HAD TO WORK THE WIPER CONTROL INSIDE THE CAR 6-10 TIMES TO GET THE WIPERS TO WORK AGAIN. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THE WIPERS ONLY WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AND ONLY IF I KEPT WORKING THE SWITCH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALERSHIP AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING "WIPER RELAYS SHORTING" CAUSING THE WIPERS NOT TO WORK.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
