Recall history
3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
22V952000 · Suspension:Multiple Axle
Reported: 2022-12-23 (December 23, 2022)
Lion Electric Company (Lion) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. The rear axle adjusting ring fasteners were not tightened properly on the passenger-side, which can cause premature wear on the suspension and differential components.
Consequence: The suspension can separate from the frame, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Lion will inspect and tighten the fasteners as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 16, 2023. Owners may contact Lion's customer service at 1-855-546-6706.
NHTSA campaign record ↗23V037000 · Steering
Reported: 2023-01-30 (January 30, 2023)
Lion Electric Company (Lion) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. The miter gear box in the steering system may be incompatible with other steering system components, which can result in a complete loss of steering control.
Consequence: A complete loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Lion Electric Company technicians will replace the miter gear box, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 7, 2023. Owners may contact Lion customer service at 1-855-546-6706.
NHTSA campaign record ↗23V451000 · Electrical System
Reported: 2023-06-27 (June 27, 2023)
Lion Electric Company (Lion) is recalling certain 2021-2025 Lion6 and Lion8 vehicles. Loose hardware inside the high-voltage distribution unit (HVDU) or direct current junction box (DCJB) enclosures may contact electrical terminals, causing a short circuit.
Consequence: A short circuit can shut down the high-voltage circuit, causing a loss of steering assistance or drive power and reducing braking power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Lion technicians will replace the hardware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 21, 2023. Owners may contact Lion customer service at 1-855-546-6706. Lion's number for this recall is R2023-007a.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2022: 0 complaints · 2023: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |

| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
