Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
15V528000 · Service Brakes, Air:Supply:Reservoir/Tank
Reported: 2015-08-18 (August 18, 2015)
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Granite (GU) trucks manufactured September 24, 2011, to July 1, 2015. The affected trucks may be equipped with an air brake system reservoir that does not have a sufficient volume. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
Consequence: If the air brake system reservoir has as insufficient volume, braking performance may be affected, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Mack will notify owners, and dealers will add additional air brake reservoir volume, free of charge. The recall began on October 15, 2015. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0394.
NHTSA campaign record ↗15V702000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine:Other Fuel Types:Turbo/Supercharger
Reported: 2015-10-26 (October 26, 2015)
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Granite (GU), LR, and TerraPro (LEU, MRU) trucks manufactured November 17, 2009 to October17, 2015. The affected trucks have engines with a turbocharger oil supply line that may contact or interfere with the turbocharger inlet elbow, clean air intake clamp, or the air fuel control tube, and result in an oil leak.
Consequence: If the turbocharger oil supply line oil leaks in the proximity of the engine exhaust manifold there would be an increased risk of a fire.
Remedy: Cummins will notify owners on behalf of Mack, and dealers will inspect for oil supply line interference or damage, eliminating the interference and replacing the oil supply line, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Cummins at 1-800-343-7357 or Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Cummins' number for this recall is SC0396.
NHTSA campaign record ↗15V804000 · Service Brakes, Air:Disc:Chamber
Reported: 2015-11-30 (November 30, 2015)
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Granite 4X2 trucks manufactured September 17, 2009, to July 31, 2015. Due to a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes, the rear brakes may overheat.
Consequence: If the rear brakes overheat there would be an increased risk of a tire blowout or a wheel-end fire.
Remedy: Mack will notify owners, and dealers will replace either the brake chambers on the steer axles or the drive axles to correct the imbalance, free of charge. The recall began on January 27, 2016. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Mack's number for this recall is SC0398.
NHTSA campaign record ↗25V867000 · Service Brakes, Air:Disc:Chamber
Reported: 2025-12-15 (December 15, 2025)
Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2010-2016 Granite (GU) trucks. Vehicles remedied under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) may have had incorrect parts installed during subsequent repairs. The incorrect parts may cause a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes and the rear brakes to overheat.
Consequence: Overheated brakes may cause a tire blowout or fire, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the brake chambers as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 14, 2026. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0491. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 22, 2025. Owners who received a remedy under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) must have the new remedy completed.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2022: 0 complaints · 2023: 0 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
