Reported: 2025-02-07 (February 7, 2025)
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2022-2025 EQB 250, EQB 300 4MATIC, and EQB 350 4MATIC electric vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.
Consequence: A vehicle fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Owners are advised to only charge their vehicles to a maximum of 80% battery capacity until the repair has been completed. Dealers will update the battery management system software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 22, 2025. This is a phased recall. Phase 1 owner letters were mailed on May 22, 2025. Phase 2 owner letters were mailed on October 31, 2025 and Phase 3 owner letters were mailed on December 12, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2025040005.

| Electrical System | 2388.5%ODI 11662245On February 3, 2025, a recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V050 / Manufacturer Recall No. 2025040005) was issued for my 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ due to a defect involving the high-voltage battery that may cause a fire. I brought the vehicle to the dealership shortly after the recall was announced. The service department informed me that no remedy is currently available and they do not have a timeline for when one will be. This unresolved recall places my safety, and the safety of others, at risk, as the vehicle could potentially catch fire without war… | 360.0%ODI 11708644At the time of the incident, I was pulling into a parking space in a parking lot near a park. I was traveling at approximately 3–5 miles per hour, consistent with idle or walking speed during a routine parking maneuver. I was nearly stopped and aligned with the parking space when the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated without driver input. This occurred from a near-idle speed in a parking lot, not during roadway driving. During the unintended acceleration, the vehicle traveled over multiple curbs on both sides. No audible warnings, n… | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. |
| Unknown Or Other | 415.4%ODI 11664100Prior to the recall this vehicle has had two incidents where it had to be brought into the dealership. One of those incidents caused the SUV to be in the shop for approx. a month where the battery was not holding a charge/could not be charged and the manufacture in Germany had to be contacted. The second time I driving out of town and the battery was fully charged (280 miles) for a 180 mile trip and by the time I arrived at my destination I had 30 miles remaining for a charge. I ran out of battery and had to be towed to another charging station… | 240.0%ODI 11652624April 3, 2025. approx 2:30pm Glass panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded going down hwy 431in Huntsville Al. approx speed was 50-55mph. Vehicle had been parked in the parking deck at work since 6am. Exterior Temp was approximately 84 Degrees F. Sunroof was closed. Sounded like a gunshot and the glass was sucked out. Battery defects in electric vehicles can present risks that include thermal events, loss of vehicle functionality, and other potentially dangerous situations. My vehicle has had warning signs, I received emails about the risks my vehicle can present directly from Mercedes. I have had my vehicle in the service department two times in two months for this same issue. My vehicle is overheating while charging. | 0UnavailableNo examples available for this selection. |
| Fuel/Propulsion System | 27.7%ODI 11724702We purchased a 2023 Mercedes EQB (EV) 2 years ago. The car is part of a recall in which we are advised to not park near other cars and not charge at home. Thus making the car essentially not useable unless we take the risk. We are driving it, knowing that we could catch fire. We are parking it and charging it in our garage, knowing it could catch fire. We have no choice as Mercedes has not offered any loaner or rental option so we can park this car until the recall or buyback is complete. Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2023: 5 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 26 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
