THIS VEHICLE SAFETY COMPLAINT IS REALLY A NOTIFICATION OF LAWLESSNESS. I WAS NOTIFIED IN MAY 2016 OF THE AIR BAG RECALL. IT'S NOW BEEN 3 YRS AND I CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE KNOWN TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG. AN AIRBAG THAT "UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES DURING A CRASH THAT NECESSITATES FRONTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, THE DEFECT IN YOUR PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR MAY CAUSE HE AIRBAG TO EXPLODE.........RESULTING IN SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE FRONT PASSENGER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS, POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH"!! TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR HAS TWO RECALLS, AND IT'S BEEN 3 YEARS WITHOUT A SOLUTION YET. I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE LACK OF EFFORT MERCEDES BENZ IS PUTTING TO SOLVE THIS RECALL IS DISCONCERTING.

I WAS TOLD THERE IS AN AIRBAG RECALL. ASKED 1 DEALER LAST WEEK, AND THEY STATED THE PART IS NOT IN. LAST MONTH RECEIVED SEVERAL CALLS FROM DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE THAT A PART WAS IN. EACH TIME I CALLED THEM THEY STATED THEY HAD NO PART. IS THERE A RECALL ON AIRBAGS? IF SO WHO SHOULD I CONTACT TO HAVE THE AIRBAG REPLACED?

THE FUEL FILTER HAS A CRACK THAT RESULTS IN LEAKING GASOLINE WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2011 GLKS ALREADY IN PLACE FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT OUR GLK WAS BUILT A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THOSE REPORTED AS AFFECTED. HOWEVER, I AM CERTAIN THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE WITH OUR VEHICLE BASED ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THAT RECALL. NHTSA ID: 12V557000. IF THERE ARE OTHER SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE SAME EXACT MODEL YEAR CAR, JUST DIFFERENT BUILD DATES, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. HOWEVER WHEN I CALL DEALERSHIPS WITH …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
