Owner report 11511974 · 2023-03-15 (March 15, 2023)

So I bought a brand new 2023 Mercedes Sprinter Build by Airstream Interstate 19. The front windshield visibility is very bad at night driving. The whole front of windshield has zig zag lines all over the glass for defrosting but those lines make on coming traffic lights very blurry. Driving during day time is normal. Driving during night time all lights look blurry, its kind of like driving with -2 or -3 prescription when looking out the windshield. I called airstream and they said windshield is part of mercedes item. I called mercedes knox…

Owner report 11548698 · 2023-10-06 (October 6, 2023)

The crosswind assist on my vehicle causes me to momentarily loose control of my Sprinter. When passing a tractor-trailer or when I experience any crosswind, the result is a forceful jerking of the vehicle so severe that I almost crashed into the tractor-trailer. I have researched this and found no way to turn this off or any way to make this less reactive. I have also found online others who are experiencing this same problem. Mercedes does not respond to my inquiries, saying that this is standard and no way to regulate the severity of the …

The contact owns a 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55-65 MPH, the Crosswind Assist inadvertently activated, causing the front and rear driver's side brakes to activate. The vehicle started swerving. The Crosswind Assist warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on four separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no error codes were retrieved. The dealer determined that the vehicle had recalibrated while driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer w…

At 3,000 miles, my 2023 Van (purchased new) developed significant reduction in power and acceleration. The transmission also shifts incorrectly (too late, resulting in higher then normal RPM's) and then abruptly downshifts upon stopping. When going uphill, the van obtains a max speed of about 35-40MPH, forcing me to travel on the local Interstates on the shoulder with my hazards flashing so other vehicles know to pass me. Van was left at Mercedes Dealership for 1 month. Van was not repaired, no plan or remedy was communicated. Van has…

Owner report 11579218 · 2024-03-25 (March 25, 2024)

The front driveshaft for the vehicle referenced has a safety design flaw that makes it too short. There is a risk of the front driveshaft separating from the front differential splines completely and wrecking havoc to the vehicles essential driving components like steering rack, wiring harness, and potentially causing an accident. Mercedes Benz has increased wait times at their shops and are currently 5-6 weeks out to even look at the vehicles issue. Currently my vehicle is experiencing major vibrations due to the front driveshaft barely hangin…

Owner report 11588123 · 2024-05-10 (May 10, 2024)

Noticed the driveshaft to my front differential is very close to falling out. Also rusting & flinging grease everywhere as it pulls out of its seating. This is an issue other owners have seen, with severe consequences when the driveshaft becomes complete unseated including sudden severe vibrations, loss of drive power, and potentially damaging steering components, brake lines/components, and electrical harnesses.

I was facing west in the left turning lane to turn south into my community. The vehicle lost power when I was cutting across oncoming, east bound traffic. The vehicle lost power two more time after that once I was in my community. No warning light or any other indicators. The vehicle just went limp. I almost didn't make it clear of oncoming traffic.

My issue is only the crosswind assist. We purchased this van new, it has 3000miles of use not driving to the dealership and back. We cannot drive this van on the freeway and due to this "safety" feature nobody but myself will get behind the wheel fearful of crashing when this turns on at 100% random times. Infact it went off 23times in an 18mile stretch the last time I drove it. I've contacted the customer service line 4 times. Nobody there has been any help and twice I've been hung up on. Complaint Description I am filing this complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding a safety issue with my new Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500. I purchased this vehicle brand new from Mercedes Benz Manhattan. From the first day of ownership, I began experiencing multiple serious problems with the van. In addition, the vehicle experiences strong vibrations and the transmission frequently kicks or shifts abruptly. On several occas…

WE MOVED TO HIGH ALTITUDE (6750 FT ELEVATION). FROM A STOP IT TAKES OVER THREE SECONDS FOR THE VEHICLE TO HAVE PROPER POWER TO ACCELERATE. IT WILL START TO ROLL, BUT NO REAL POWER. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE MERCEDES BENZ (WALTER'S MERCEDES OF RIVERSIDE, CA) DEALER THREE TIMES. THEY REFUSE TO TEST IT AT ALTITUDE AND SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT SEA LEVEL (OF COURSE NOT). IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN'T PULL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY BY MYSELF WITHOUT FEAR OF BEING HIT BECAUSE I AM UNABLE TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE. *TR

The drive shaft to front differential (part # A9070410-09-00) in MY23 and MY24 Sprinter AWD has structural flaw in the sense that: (1) it is so short that the shaft can easily fall off during normal road conditions. Delivery driver parked at top of customer's driveway. Driver placed van in park and engaged the ebrake. Driver went to rear of vehicle, retrieved customer's package, and exited the van. Driver was handing customer the package when the driver and customer heard clicking sounds coming from van. Van began sliding down the driveway and hit customer's trees. If trees had not been there, van would have hit the customer's house.

I drove on the freeway with Cruise Control engaged. Suddenly, the control kicked off, and the meter board displayed the following warnings: "Active Brake Assist Functions Limited. See Operator's Manual" and "Active Distance Assist Inoperative." I immediately contacted Mercedes-Benz road assistance, and it took them 13 hours to tow my vehicle to the Mercedes-Benz dealer in Las Vegas. It is closed on Sunday. They just drop us on the driveway. When driving in a low-density area, on roads with little to no traffic, the vehicle assumes that the radar has failed if it does not see a vehicle in front of it for a long enough time. Since this is a larger van, I tend to drive 65mph on higher speed roads such as an interstate. Many cars understandably pass me as the speed limit is usually much higher. Even though they pass me the van does not register that car on the radar in regard to its failure state. When the radar "detects" that it's failed (which it has not) it disables the adaptive c…

The distronic cruise control system cuts out after a period of seeing no vehicles in front, sometimes an hour, sometimes two hours. But when this happens, it then begins disabling other safety systems like emergency braking. There is no way to quickly reset the system. I spoke with the Mercedes Benz Dealer about this (van is brand new and this happened twice on my first trip) and I was told that this is both common in the 2019 and older Sprinter Vans, and that it is just a idiosyncrasy of the system. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
