Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
13V254000 · Equipment | Electrical System:Wiring:Fuses And Circuit Breakers
Reported: 2013-06-20 (June 20, 2013)
North American Bus Industries, Inc. (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 40LFW and model year 2013 31LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, through May 15, 2013 and equipped with a rear mount Sutrak electric HVAC. The fuse holder inside the HVAC may allow voltage spikes, which may damage electrical components.
Consequence: Damage to electrical components may result in a fire.
Remedy: NABI will notify the fleet owner of the affected buses and dealers will replace the cables and fuse holders for the HVAC system, free of charge. The recall began on July 19, 2013. NABI's recall number is 20135. Owners may contact NABI at 1-256-831-4296.
NHTSA campaign record ↗13V597000 · Wheels
Reported: 2013-11-29 (November 29, 2013)
NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013 40LFW and 31LFW transit buses equipped with painted steel wheels. Due to excessive paint on the wheels, the wheel lug nuts may loosen during operation.
Consequence: If the lug nuts loosen during operation, the wheel could detach from the bus, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: NABI has notified the fleet owner of these buses and has replaced the affected painted steel wheels, free of charge. The recall began in August 2013. Customers may contact NABI at 1-256-831-4296. NABI's number for this recall is 20137.
NHTSA campaign record ↗14V143000 · Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly
Reported: 2014-03-25 (March 25, 2014)
NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 40LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, through March 17, 2014, 2013 35LFW transit buses manufactured October 21, 2013, through January 14, 2014, and 2013 31LFW transit buses manufactured February 10, 2013, through October 19, 2013, and equipped with compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems. In the subject vehicles, a bolt on the latch assembly that holds the CNG top covers closed may come into contact with the CNG fuel cylinder.
Consequence: Bolt contact with the CNG cylinder may damage the CNG fuel cylinder, potentially causing a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: NABI Bus, LLC will notify owners, and dealers will eliminate the possible interference, free of charge. The recall began in May 2014. Owners may contact NABI Bus at 1-256-831-4296. NABI's number for this recall is 20142.
NHTSA campaign record ↗14V517000 · Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly:Pressure Relief Devices | Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting | Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly
Reported: 2014-08-26 (August 26, 2014)
NABI Bus, LLC (NABI) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 31LFW transit buses manufactured February 10, 2013, to March 10, 2014, and 2012-2014 40LFW transit buses manufactured October 5, 2012, to June 2, 2014, and equipped with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel systems manufactured by Agility Fuel Systems. The tanks for the CNG fuel system may be abraded by Pressure Relief Devices (PRDs) mounted adjacent to the tanks.
Consequence: Contact between the PRD and the tank may result in a CNG leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
Remedy: NABI will notify owners, and dealers will install a temporary flexible cover over the PRD. A permanent improvement is still under development by Agility. Owners will receive a second notification when the permanent remedy becomes available. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact NABI customer service at 1-256-241-1298. NABI's number for this recall is 20145.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2013: 0 complaints · 2014: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2013 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2014 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2013 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2014 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
