Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
04V042000 · Wheels
Reported: 2004-02-02 (February 2, 2004)
ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES, THE CENTER AXLE WHEEL END BRAKES MAY NOT RELEASE AFTER BEING PARKED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.
Consequence: THE DRIVER COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AWAY FROM A PARKED POSITION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: NEW FLYER WILL INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL AIR SYSTEM R14 RELAY VALVE, #4 NOTCH AUTOMATIC SLACK ADJUSTERS, AND TYPE 30 LONG STOKE BRAKE CHAMBERS ON THE CENTER AXLE; THE LOGIC CONTROL MODULE WILL BE REPROGRAMMED, ADD NEW ABS COMPONENTS (SENSORS, SPEED RINGS AND HARNESSES) IF NOT ALREADY EQUIPPED WITH ABS; AND WILL REVISE PLC PROGRAMMING. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NEW FLYER AT 1-204-982-8400.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V068000 · Exterior Lighting
Reported: 2007-02-23 (February 23, 2007)
CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE FLASHING DECELERATION LAMPS WERE AN OPTIONAL ITEM FOR SOME OF THESE BUSES.
Consequence: THE STANDARD REQUIRES THAT THE DECELERATION LAMP IS A SOLID LIGHT RATHER THAN A FLASHING LIGHT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REWIRE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO REMOVE THE FLASHING FUNCTION OR INSTALL A NEW PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) WHICH WILL MAKE THE LAMPS BURN STEADY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 5, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NEW FLYER AT 204-934-4874.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V268000 · Steering
Reported: 2007-06-11 (June 11, 2007)
ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES, THE U-JOINT ASSEMBLIES HAVE INADEQUATE SPLINE ENGAGEMENT ON ONE OF THE TWO END YOKES.
Consequence: EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING SYSTEM COULD DEVELOP AND, IF NOT CORRECTED, CAUSE A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: THE U-JOINT ASSEMBLY WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 10, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NEW FLYER AT 1-204-934-4874.
NHTSA campaign record ↗08V053000 · Equipment:Appliance:Air Conditioner
Reported: 2008-02-05 (February 5, 2008)
NEW FLYER IS RECALLING 431 MY 1996-2001 D60HF DIESEL TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH A ROOFTOP AIR CONDITIONING EVAPORATOR. THE EVAPORATOR DRAIN LINES MAKE CONTACT WITH COMPONENTS (BALLAST ASSEMBLIES) WITHIN THE INTERIOR LIGHTING PANEL BELOW THE DRAIN LINE PORT. THIS CAN RESULT IN EITHER DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN LINE, WHICH INTRODUCES MOISTURE INTO THE LIGHTING PANEL, OR RESTRICTION OF THE LINE WHICH RESULTS IN A BACK-UP AND OVERFLOW OF MOISTURE THROUGH THE FRESH AIR RETURN VENT AND BACK INTO THE LIGHTING PANEL.
Consequence: MOISTURE IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES WITHIN THE LIGHTING PANEL MAY RESULT IN A SHORTING OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy: NEW FLYER WILL INCORPORATE AN ELBOW FITTING INTO THE DRAIN LINE WHERE IT ENTERS THE LIGHTING PANEL FROM THE ROOF, WHICH WILL PROMOTE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE LINE AND THE BALLAST ASSEMBLY. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 6, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NEW FLYER AT 1-204-934-4803.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2006: 0 complaints · 2007: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2006 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2007 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2006 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2007 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
