My 2021 Titan, which I bought new in June of 2021 had a sidewall crack while driving. I did read, when I googled Continental/General tires that there has been a recall on Titan and Altima tires due to sidewall blowouts and cracks. The dealership said they never received anything about tires, however, My Titan had a 2 inch crack develop while driving, and I only have 3K miles on the truck. I do not feel real safe with the other 3 on it. This should be looked into.

Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

21V169000 · Tires:Sidewall | Tires

Reported: 2021-03-11 (March 11, 2021)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Altima and 2018-2021 Titan vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.

Consequence: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, and replace them as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 11, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC798.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Titan, Titan XD, and Versa vehicles. The front right and/or left turn signal bulb can crack and fail to illuminate.

Consequence: Inoperable front turn signals cannot alert on-coming drivers and/or pedestrians that the vehicle will be turning, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the bulbs as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 20, 2021. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PM986 and PC811.

22V457000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission

Reported: 2022-06-24 (June 24, 2022)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Frontier and Titan vehicles. The transmission parking pawl may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway.

Consequence: A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners are advised to apply the parking brake every time they park their vehicle. Dealers will replace the transmission parking pawl pin, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 2022. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22A2 R22A3.

Reported: 2024-08-05 (August 5, 2024)

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021 and 2024 Titan vehicles. The Air Bag Control Unit (ACU) may be missing a spacer, which can allow the fastener to loosen and result in an unsecured ACU.

Consequence: An unsecured ACU can prevent or delay air bags from deploying as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the ACU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PD120.

The truck is prone to harsh transmission shifting. It is abrupt and harsh enough when coming to a stop to create a safety issue. If one is not hard on the brakes at the time, the truck will lurch forward with the last downshifts, with the potential to strike pedestrians or the car in front. My Titan has about 800 miles, and this behavior has been going on since I bought it recently. I will list today's date below since a date is required.

The parking brake has never been sufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling slightly even after the vehicle has been placed in park. There is no audible alarm if you back up and the parking brake is set. The engine torque allows you to drive forward and reverse with ease even with the brake set, and a small dash light is the only indication that the brake is still set. When asking the dealership to adjust the brake and fix the issue they require the customer to pay for the service despite the brake being faulty from manufacture.

Two different incidents involving the transmission. The first was going at a moderate speed, it’s a nine speed transmission. It shifted down into second gear, revving the engine horribly and throwing me forward somewhat. If this had happened at highway speeds it could have locked up the back wheels causing me to loose control of the vehicle. I have picture of the dash panel showing it shifted down to second gear. I’m not sure how to attach it here. I pulled over and put it in park, then went back to drive and it reset itself. When I took it to …

Dealership signed off on NHTSA Recall 22V671 / Nissan Bulletin NTB22-085 in 2023 as 'reprogramming not needed.' The vehicle's transmission software is currently mismatched/corrupted, causing transmission fault codes. The manufacturer (Nissan Consumer Affairs) and the local dealer are refusing to honor the safety remedy and are attempting to charge a $240 diagnostic fee to investigate a failed recall campaign.

2021 Nissan Titan XD was being driven. I was listening to an audio book through android auto. I began to hear a noice I can best describe as a beep or squeal like you might hear from an electronic toy with a battery about to die. I thought the sound was coming from the center console and was trying to identify the source when I observed flames erupt behind the passenger door speaker grill. I exited the vehicle and opened the passenger side door where I patted the speaker grill and was able to extinguish the flame. I called 911. The call c…

After about a year and a half, my truck either won’t want to start or won’t start. I purchased my truck new in early 2022 and I am on my 3rd new battery. Now in late 2026, they are telling me that I shouldn’t take short trips because the “smart charger” won’t have enough time to fully charge the battery. I have read that people are disconnecting something on the truck and it fixes the problem. I am not a mechanic and I don’t feel like I have to regulate what trips I take in my fairly new vehicle. I have recently been leaving my truck running wh…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

The vehicle will not move between lower level gears and will not accelerate when it is stuck. The vehicle will rev up very high but not switch gears even if you dig all the way in on the gas pedal. In fact, if you do that the engine makes a chirping noise. This defect prevented me from accelerating through an intersection and I nearly got hit by oncoming traffic. We have taken it to the Nissan dealership 3 times and they have said this is normal for this type of truck. We are taking this to an independent service center for a second opinion.

NHTSA I own a 2021 Nissan Titan. I am deeply concerned that I have defective Air Bags. I have had 2 collisions in my vehicle at high rates of speed and none deployed either time. I now fear that this vehicle will not protect me in the unfortunate case of another collision.

The vehicles automatic emergency braking system falsely triggers under certain conditions. It most commonly occurs when the the vehicle travels under bridges in sunny, clear conditions. Presumably, the vehicle believes that the shadow cast by the bridge is an object when it is in fact just a shadow. The problem still occurs to this day when driving under t…
