Owner report 11615040 · 2024-09-17 (September 17, 2024)

While driving in the rain, the wipers would not work. The driver tried and tried to work the switch but the wipers would not work. Later, the wipers would work. At times the wipers work, at times they don't. We took the truck to the Peterbilt dealer and the problem could not be duplicated, they offered no solutions, no direction other than to bring it back when it happens again.

Front axle begins popping and making metal to metal noises when hitting bumps and or turning. We took it to the shop and they found the nuts to the U-bolts that hold the leaf springs to the front axle had begun backing off and were out of torque spec. Upon receiving the truck back the front end no longer made this noise. Approximately 8 months later we are hearing the same metal on metal and popping noises that we heard previously. We have also noticed similar year Peterbilt 579's with this same noise and popping so this isn't specific to our v…

I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT MY TRUCK ISSUE . I BOUGHT THE TRUCK PETERBILT 579 2022 FROM GOLDEN STATE PETERBILT FRESNO CA ON 03/03/2021. WHEN I DROVE THE TRUCK I REALIZED IT WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I DROVE THE TRUCK ABOUT 200 MILES TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRUCK, SO I LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 03/04/21 TO FIX IT. THE COMPANY HAS CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THE TRUCK THREE TIMES SINCE THEN BUT THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE TRUCK STILL PULLS …

This vehicle about 6-8 weeks ago started throwing codes for all systems above (over 100 codes). This issue affected all systems of the vehicle including but not limited to the speed and braking of the vehicle, plus the fuel system and adaptive driving systems. We took it to the dealer Performance Peterbilt in Tifton, GA. They cleared the codes and said they resolved it by replacing a NOX sensor. We left the repair shop and within 50-100 miles the exact same issue started up again. We took it back to the same shop, they worked with Paccar and de…

Peterbilt has a recall 24V190 for the right hand shifter stalk. This VIN is not on the recall list however it does have the defective shift stalk and has been replaced 3 times prior to the recall. The most recent replacement was 8/20/24 replaced with the same defective part #. How do I get this truck on the recall list?

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
