Recall history
4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
15V516000 · Power Train:Driveline:Driveshaft
Reported: 2015-08-13 (August 13, 2015)
Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Pierce Arrow XT, Dash CF, Enforcer, Quantum, and Velocity emergency vehicles manufactured from November 3, 2014, through July 31, 2015. The affected vehicles have a driveshaft that may bend or twist possibly causing it disconnect.
Consequence: If the driveshaft disconnects from the vehicle, the vehicle would have a loss of drive, disabling it on the roadway and preventing the vehicle from responding to an emergency. Additionally, portions of the driveshaft could become a road hazard. These scenarios may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Pierce has notified owners, and dealers will install a stronger driveshaft, free of charge. The recall began on September 15, 2015. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723. Pierce's number for this recall is 74B265.
NHTSA campaign record ↗16V585000 · Power Train:Manual Transmission
Reported: 2016-08-05 (August 5, 2016)
Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Arrow, Dash, Enforcer, Impel, Quantum, Saber, and Velocity fire trucks manufactured June 29, 2015, to June 30, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with certain C20 and C21 split-shaft transmissions from Waterous. This transmission sends power to the wheels of an emergency response vehicle or power to an add-on unit such as a water pump used for fighting fires. A component within the shift unit may be damaged and as a result, the operator may not be able to switch the power output.
Consequence: If the power output cannot be changed, once the fire truck arrives at the scene, it may not be able to pump water to aid in extinguishing the fire, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: Piece will notify owners, and dealers will remove the shift unit assembly and replace the clevis pin and retaining rings, free of charge. The recall began on September 2, 2016. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723. Pierce's number for this recall is 74B277.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2021: 0 complaints · 2022: 0 complaints

|---|---|---|---|
| 2021 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
