Recall history
6 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
00V133000 · Steering: Steering Wheel/Handle Bar
Reported: 2000-05-08 (May 8, 2000)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES AND BUS SHELLS. SOME VEHICLES ARE FITTING WITH A STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT PLATE.
Consequence: THIS COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES FOR AN ADJUSTMENT PLATE AND WILL REPLACE THE ADJUSTMENT PLATE IF NECESSARY.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V342000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Cooling System
Reported: 2000-10-25 (October 25, 2000)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT COACHES. SOME COOLANT HEATERS MAY HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITHOUT A COMBUSTION CHAMBER (BURNER TUBE). A FLAME WILL BE NOTICED EXITING THE EXHAUST PIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT.
Consequence: DAMAGE TO THE HEATER AND THE VEHICLE IN WHICH IT IS INSTALLED IS POSSIBLE IF A COOLANT HEATER IS MISSING A COMBUSTION CHAMBER.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE COOLANT HEATER FOR A COMBUSTION CHAMBER. IF A CHAMBER IS MISSING, ONE WILL BE ADDED.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V389000 · Suspension
Reported: 2000-11-21 (November 21, 2000)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT COACHES. THE REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS WERE NOT WELDED ON THE TAG AXLE.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL WELD THE BRACKETS ON THE TAB AXLE.
NHTSA campaign record ↗01V033003 · Electrical System:12v/24v/48v Battery
Reported: 2001-02-27 (February 27, 2001)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH VANNER 60 SERIES BATTERY EQUALIZERS. THE EQUALIZER COULD FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY AND CAUSE MALFUNCTION OF THE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM.
Consequence: WITHOUT FUSING, THE EQUALIZER MAY MELT, BURN, OR SMOKE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE OR A SMOKE FILLED BUS, THUS NECESSITATING A PASSENGER EVACUATION OF THE BUS. THE FAILURE MODE CAN CAUSE OPERATOR DISTRACTION, AND/OR POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
Remedy: PREVOST WILL NOTIFY OWNERS TO INSPECT THEIR BUSES FOR CERTAIN EQUALIZERS BY THE DATE CODE. THE AFFECTED EQUALIZERS WILL BE REPLACED. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 29, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-2046 OR VANNER AT 1-800-227-6937.
NHTSA campaign record ↗03V090000 · Steering:Column
Reported: 2003-03-07 (March 7, 2003)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR COACHES AND MOTOR HOMES, THE STEERING COLUMNS MAY BE MISSING THE LOWER BOLT AND NUT. A REPLACEMENT BOLT AND NUT WAS INSTALLED TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION ON THE PRODUCTION LINE. IF A REPLACEMENT BOLT HAS BEEN USED AND NOT TIGHTENED PROPERLY, THE COLUMN MAY COME OUT OF THE INPUT SHAFT WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM IS USED.
Consequence: IN SUCH A CASE, A LOSS OF STEERING WOULD OCCUR.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL VERIFY THE SIZE OF THE BOLT AND NUT AND REPLACE THEM IF NEEDED. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 4, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432.

Consequence: A VEHICLE OCCUPANT COULD BE INJURED.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL CUT THE TOP OF THE STOP.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2018: 0 complaints · 2019: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2019 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2019 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
Components reported together
