IF YOU TURN THE ROTARY DIAL TO THE THE R POSITION IT JUST SITS THERE LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. IN ORDER TO GET IT TO GO INTO REVERSE, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE DIAL BACK TO P, THEN TURN THE DIAL TO D AND THEN TURN IT BACK TO R. I had to put the truck in reverse again and then back in drive a second time to get it to shift into drive. This incident almost caused a wreck, because the truck would not shift into drive and move. The traffic coming from behind had to stop to keep from hitting me because the truck wouldn’t shift into drive and move forward.

I am writing to report a serious and dangerous issue with my 2020 Ram 1500. The vehicle has been randomly shutting off while I am driving, often accompanied by a strange acceleration or revving sound just before the engine dies. This has occurred multiple times without warning, creating an extremely unsafe driving situation. The issue happens at random and cannot be easily reproduced on demand, which I understand may make it difficult to diagnose. However, it is important to emphasize that this is a major safety risk that could easily result i…

Failure of the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). This part is available for inspection and review. The failure of this component can result in complete immobilization of the vehicle which poses a significant safety risk for users and pedestrians alike. The problem has been a wide-spread issue for the Ram 1500 series. This issue was acknowledged by Ram and Stelantis. Ram has reviewed my MGU and confirmed that the component is faulty. The only warning was a whining noise and then the vehicle became completely incapacitated.

This incident happened to me yesterday afternoon around 3pm in Syracuse. The rear heated/slider window exploded when driving causing glass to shatter outward from the cabin. I pressed the breaks when I heard the explosion and was fortunate no one was in front because there was ice on the road. Shattered glass was propelled outward but no vehicles were behind me, i was doing 50 on a 55, weather conditions were not great: 20 degrees and snowing pretty bad. Engine shuts down on stop. Normal. But sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal, the starter grinds unusually long and when the engine does restart the vehicle lunges forward. As my foot is instinctively on the accelerator, this sometimes could cause a rear end collision with another vehicle. This scenario has twice caused the engine light to come on. No related codes detected by dealer. The issue did present itself during a test drive with a dealer mechanic. He reset the codes to out the light. No code or solution suggested.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 RAM 1500. When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.

THIS DEFECT HAS THE REAL PROBABILITY OF CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE. TAKING MY NEW TRUCK THROUGH A CAR WASH, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AT THE START OF THE WASH. THE CAR WASH HAS ROLLERS THAT DRIVE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL THROUGH THE CAR WASH. AT THE END, MY VEHICLE DASHBOARD INDICATES THAT I NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON ON THE DASH. AFTER DOING THIS, THE DASHBOARD THEN TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE. EACH TIME I DEPRESS THE B…

BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS EXCESSIVELY ON FIRST APPLICATION OF BRAKES WITH OVERALL POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE. A RAPID SECOND OR THIRD BRAKE APPLICATION BRINGS BRAKE PEDAL UP TO NORMAL LEVEL, 1-2 INCHES HIGHER THAN INITIAL APPLICATION RESULTING IN NORMAL BRAKING PERFORMANCE. THE ISSUE FEELS LIKE OLD STYLE REAR DRUM BRAKES THAT NEED TO BE ADJUSTED BUT THIS TRUCK HAS MODERN 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKES. THE PEDAL HEIGHT TO FIRM SOLID PEDAL CAN BE EXPERIENCED PARKED OR IN MOTION. THE REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE IS A HIGH RISK TO SAFELY DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

At a speed of 45mph, my truck completely shut down. No power on anything. I was able to pull off the road and come to a stop; power brakes and steering were not operable. Once stopped, the truck would not start. "Push to Start" indicator on dash did come on, but the brake pedal was stiff and the push to start button did nothing. Got out of the truck, exterior door lock button was inoperable and both key fobs did nothing. Had to have the vehicle towed.

While I was driving my vehicle just completely shutdown. I lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road. I pressed the start button and nothing happened. I continued to try pressing it and it finally started back up, and I drove home. A couple days later I tried starting it and it wouldn't start. Finally it started and I drove it about 100 miles. I got in it the following day and it won't start again. I'm concerned that the vehicle could shutdown on me again while driving.

Inside cab is getting moisture in it. Prior to noticing this we had battery drainage that causes truck not to turn on. They replaced radio they found it was drain battery. We continued to have battery drainage where it wouldn’t turn on after a full charge overnight. The truck would go to turn on but would only make clicking noises and wouldn’t shut down for 20 minutes even though wouldn’t start. Other times we’d turn off truck and it wouldn’t turn off. Now our truck is molding inside and front and rear windshield drip of moisture. The moisture …

After I got the vehicle, during the first winter in January of 2021, I was filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Kansas. The fuel pump clicked off long before the tank was full and continued to click off every 3 seconds or so when attempting to continue. I stopped filling the tank at about half full after about 20 minutes in the freezing outside temperatures thinking it might have been something wrong with the pump. The gas gauge only read 1/2 full. I went to the next exit and tried again. Same situation. It took forever and finally …

I took my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiese to a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership on 9/23/25 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) safety recall. I was told a part had to be ordered to complete the recall and gave me a rental vehicle. After a few days I contacted the dealership about my repair. They said the wrong part was ordered and the new one was in route. After about a week, I called the dealership again and I was told "the truck won't start and they were working with Stellantis to figure out why." Several more days passed, I called again, they stated …
