Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

14V528000 · Air Bags

Reported: 2014-09-04 (September 4, 2014)

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram C/V Tradesman cargo vans, equipped with two front bucket seats and no rear seating, manufactured July 25, 2012, to August 20, 2014. In the affected vehicles, road hazards such as potholes may cause the front passenger side curtain and/or seat air bags to deploy unexpectedly.

Consequence: Inadvertent air bag deployment can increase the risk of crash or injury to the seat occupant.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the software in the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module, free of charge. The recall began October 3, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is P51.

I HAVE A 2013 DODGE RAM TRADESMAN THAT WAS BUILT DEC 12, 2012. LAST 8 OF THE VIN ARE DG509430, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE SAYS AC BYPASS VALVE. THE FUEL SENSOR FAILED AFTER ONLY 60,000 MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A POOR PRODUCT, ACCORDING TO WEB SEARCHES THAT I HAVE COMPLETED. THE GAS GAUGE GOES OFF AND ON LEAVING THE DRIVER WITHOUT A CLEAR IDEA OF THE STATUS OF THE FUEL. IN THE CASE OF CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE IN THE WINTER, THIS IS DANGEROUS.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
