Recall history
3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
14V505000 · Fuel System, Diesel
Reported: 2014-08-18 (August 18, 2014)
Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Gladiator emergency vehicles, 2013-2014 Metrostar emergency vehicles, 2015 motorhome chassis, and 2015 school buses chassis. The Cummins ISB or ISL engines in these vehicles may have been equipped with Fleetguard UFF-XT fuel filters, part number FF63009, whose filter shell may separate from the fuel filter nut plate causing the engine to stall without warning.
Consequence: If the engine stalls unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: Spartan has notified the final stage manufacturers, and Cummins will replace the affected fuel filters, free of charge. The recall began in August 2014. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Owners may also contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-223-4583.
NHTSA campaign record ↗14V679000 · Service Brakes, Air:Antilock
Reported: 2014-10-28 (October 28, 2014)
Spartan Motors Chassis, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 school bus chassis manufactured December 21, 2010, to June 26, 2014, and equipped with air brake systems. The affected chassis may have been manufactured with the rear antilock brake system (ABS) harness connectors reversed.
Consequence: If the ABS connectors are reversed, the rear wheels may lock up while braking, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Spartan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the ABS harness connectors, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on January 14, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 14015.
NHTSA campaign record ↗15V170000 · Fuel System, Diesel
Reported: 2015-03-24 (March 24, 2015)
Spartan Motors, Inc. (Spartan) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 School Bus chassis manufactured April 21, 2011, to February 26, 2015. The fuel/water separator heater terminals and connectors may melt and allow air into the fuel system resulting in an engine stall. Additionally, heat from the terminals may ignite the connector, harness, and other materials.
Consequence: An engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Overheated terminals may result in a vehicle fire.
Remedy: A bracket that will secure the harness to the heated fuel water separator will be supplied, and installed. Additionally, a new filter head assembly and connecting harness will be supplied. All of which will be supplied free of charge. This recall began on December 2, 2015. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 15006.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2016: 0 complaints · 2017: 0 complaints

| 2016 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2017 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2016 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2017 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
