Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

06V025000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly

Reported: 2006-01-30 (January 30, 2006)

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, STRESS AROUND THE RIGHT FRONT FUEL TANK MOUNTING POINT CAN CAUSE HAIRLINE FATIGUE CRACKS TO FORM. THIS CAN RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK.

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FUEL LEAK CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE FUEL TANK AND INSTALL IMPROVED CUSHIONS THAT MOUNT AND SUPPORT THE FUEL TANK. ANY FUEL TANKS THAT ARE FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK WILL BE REPLACED. IF A TANK IS FOUND TO HAVE A CRACK AND A REPLACEMENT TANK IS NOT AVAILABLE, FUEL TANK SEALANT WILL BE APPLIED TO THE TANK AS AN INTERIM REPAIR. WHEN THE REPLACEMENT TANK BECOMES AVAILABLE, THE OWNER WILL BE CONTACTED AND A REPLACEMENT TANK WILL BE INSTALLED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 3, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-714-572-1490.

I HAVE A 2005 SUZUKI VL1500T AND I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE STATOR REPLACE ON MY BIKE AFTER IT ONLY HAS 13,880 MILES. IN 2010 WHILE RIDING MY BIKE IT WENT DEAD AND I HAD TO COAST MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DURING TRAFFIC. AFTER REPLACING MY BATTERY THE BIKE WORKED PERFECTLY. THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER I ROAD MY BIKE TO WORK AND WENT TO LUNCH AROUND 1PM. WHEN I GOT READY TO GO HOME AROUND 4PM IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER GETTING THE BIKE HOME I PLACED IT ON MY BATTERY PLUS TENDER CHARGER AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I LEFT THE BIK…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
