Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

25V699000 · Exterior Lighting | Electrical System:Software

Reported: 2025-10-14 (October 14, 2025)

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Cybertruck vehicles operating software prior to 2025.38.3. The vehicle controller software may cause the front parking lights to be too bright and exceed the maximum light output, adversely affecting the vision of other drivers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: Parking lights that are too bright can reduce visibility of oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Tesla released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2025. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-25-00-008.

26V255000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Disc:Rotor | Wheels:Lugs/Nuts/Bolts/Studs

Reported: 2026-04-21 (April 21, 2026)

Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2024-2026 Cybertruck vehicles equipped with 18-inch steel wheels. The brake rotor stud holes may crack and allow the stud to separate from the wheel hub.

Consequence: Wheel stud separation can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Tesla Service will replace the front and rear brake rotors, hubs, and lug nuts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 20, 2026. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-26-33-003.

Large driver's touchscreen in the Cybertruck gets really, really hot. Brought it to Tesla for a service today (August 5th, 2024) and they said the screen is working as expected. They showed me another vehicle and it also had the 110 to 125 degree screen. This can burn skin if you're older and lacking nerves or a child (which Tesla encourages to use the screen with their video games). There is a defect in the stainless-steel exterior trim panel called the “cant rail,” which detached from the vehicle while driving, posing a safety risk as road debris and hazard to other motorists. The Power Conversion System (PCS) in the Tesla Cybertruck is experiencing a high rate of hardware-level failure (specifically the PCS2 module) that poses three distinct safety risks beyond the loss of AC charging. Loss of Steer-by-Wire Integrity: The Cybertruck utilizes a full steer-by-wire system and a 48V low-voltage architecture. The PCS is responsible for managing the 48V bus and charging the LV battery. A hardware failure in the PCS (common alerts: PCS2_a094, PCS2_a137) threatens the stability of the 48V system. Any sudden collapse of the…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

Components reported together

Lane Departure Avoidance is jerking the vehicle aggressively back into the lane and is creating a serious safety concern. I have already scheduled maintenance with Tesla regarding this issue, but I was told that there was nothing they could do about it. The issue occurs when driving in a lane and needing to move over quickly or make an immediate lane adjustment. If the turn signal is not activated, the vehicle will aggressively steer/jerk itself back toward the original lane. This can be dangerous because the system is essentially fighting the…

Within approximately four days of delivery, my vehicle experienced multiple system failures during normal driving conditions. The following warnings appeared simultaneously: - Low voltage electrical system issue detected - Rear axle steering disabled – turning radius limited - Power reduced - Unable to charge – Service required - Additional system warnings These issues affected critical systems including steering, electrical, and vehicle power. The steering limitation and power reduction created a significant safety concern while driving. …
