We had a cargo door skin failure while driving on I20 in Dallas on a windy day, 2/1/21. We have a 2017 Miramar which is the cousin of the Challenger. It peeled off while driving and went airborne behind us. We were stunned as we heard the peeling off and saw the launch of the cargo door skin. It broke the lock from the door frame as well. Miraculously, it landed on the side of the highway while motorists were swerving to miss the projectile. We stopped and checked all the doors including the outside kitchen, all of which are in the debonding pr…

The adhesive bond between the panes of glass on the driver’s side frameless window has failed. Approximately 80% of the adhesive has failed allowing the front of the glass to detach. I not only fear it will now fall out while driving, but it is also constantly fogged up and hard to see my mirror. This is a large piece of glass. Thor (the manufacture) has done nothing more than inform me that the warranty period for my bus has ended.

There is a electric privacy shade inside my RV for the windshield. My motor failed in the down position. I tried to get a replacement motor but none is available. I emailed the manufacturer of the shade and they gave me a replacement part number, this is where the safety issue comes in. With the key off, while you are camping, you can press the SHADE down button and the shade will go down on its own and stop in the correct position. Same thing when you press the SHADE …

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

17V634000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 2017-10-09 (October 9, 2017)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Challenger, Axis, Chateau, Four Winds, Hurricane, Miramar, Palazzo, Tuscany, Vegas, Venetian, and Windsport motorhomes. The cargo carrying capacity (CCC) label on these vehicles may indicate an incorrect water capacity for the water heater/fresh water tank. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Tires and Rims for Motor vehicles over 10,000lbs."

Consequence: If the water capacity information is incorrect and it causes the vehicle to be over loaded, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners and send them corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2017. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-500-1020. TMC's number for this recall is RC000147.

Reported: 2017-11-22 (November 22, 2017)

Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling various 2003-2018 recreational vehicles, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. See a list of the affected trailer models at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V758-5764.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Thor will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Thor customer service at 1-877-500-1020, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.

Reported: 2018-11-16 (November 16, 2018)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Thor Challenger, Miramar, and Outlaw motorhomes. The motorized windshield roller shade at the driver's seating position may unroll without warning while driving.

Consequence: If the windshield roller shade unrolls while driving, it could block the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: TMC will notify owners, and dealers will install a fastener to ensure the motor will not allow the shade to roll down during while driving. The recall began January 10, 2019. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000165.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect the compartment door skin and replace the door as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 28, 2021. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000247.

This is a Class A Motorhome. It has one door for entering and exiting the camper. The door handle to get in and out is a horrible design. As a firefighter it scares me and I plan to change it as soon as I find a perfect match. If you are outside trying to get in you can not open the door easily. You have to pull it with 2 hands and violently force, yank, pull the door open. This is definitely a safety concern. This specific type of door handle is a well known issue with Thor motor homes. You have a Technical Service Bulletin 20-2370 issued 09 November 2020 for this vehicle, so no notice to consumers until the issue arises and their mechanic figures it out. The issue causes an extreme heat build up that melts spark plug wires, causes loss of power and/or misfiring, and could cause a vehicle fire which is not noted in your bulletin. This should have been a recall ceasing sales until affected Ford F-53s were repaired. I encountered this issue while on 38 in the San Bernardino National Forest. This was a major safety issue with…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
