Owner report 11503431 · 2023-01-24 (January 24, 2023)

While driving my Thor RIZE with the powered Carefree Awning, after a hard turn, the awning randomly partially deploys several times, then return to closed position. I have now added a mirror to allow me to see the awning while driving. A few times after the battery disconnect have been re-engaged after being off for a few days, the first hard turn will have a better chance to result in the awning deploying, however it has not been consistent enough to demonstrate the action to the service department, so no action have been taken by them in the …

Owner report 11519263 · 2023-04-27 (April 27, 2023)

The solar panel mounted by Thor on top of the van detached and flew off while I was driving on the highway and encountered cross wind. From what was left on the solar panel bracket, it looks like there were cracks in the metal around where the bolts were attached for a long time. The solar panel brackets were very loose and floppy allowing the panel to move while the vehicle was in motion or under high wind.

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

23V068000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2023-02-10 (February 10, 2023)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Rize and Scope camper vans. The retractable awning may extend unintentionally during transit.

Consequence: An awning extending unintentionally during transit may become a distraction or road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will install an additional ignition cutoff wire harness at the BT12 module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2023. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000289.

Reported: 2023-04-21 (April 21, 2023)

Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Sequence, 2021-2024 Rize, Scope, Tellaro, 2023-2024 Dazzle, and Twist motorhomes, equipped with certain Cummins Onan QG 2800i generator sets. The fuel hose between the inline fuel filter and the injection pump module (IPM) may have inadequate clamp force, possibly resulting in a gasoline leak.

Consequence: A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel hose and clamps, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2023. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000294.

The generator sits 5 inches from the ground below the rear axle. It is not protected with any encasement, bump stops or axle shims. Please see Bulletin TSB-21-06 for using parts kit #0503506. I have contacted the dealer and manufacturer about this and the say that there was no recall on my vin# for this. They have not offered to do anything about my concerns. The dealer inspected before I purchased the vehicle on 10/21/2003. My concern is the generator will hit a bump and tear off and hit the driver behind me.

NHTSA has previously issued a recall on the failed LP hose on Rise/Scope vehicles 21V-755. For some reason, my vehicle/VIN was not included in the recall. Nevertheless, I experienced the identical failure described in the recall, but I take exception to the recall pointing to the tight bend in the hose being the issue. My hose is literally disintegrating for the full length of the hose. It appears that the rubber is defective. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
