Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

03V145000 · Structure:Body:Door

Reported: 2003-04-14 (April 14, 2003)

ON CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS, THE WEIGHT RATING OF THE "D" RING TYPE CABLE LANYARD USED TO SUPPORT THE REAR ACCESS DOOR DURING OPENING AND CLOSING MAY BE INSUFFICIENT TO ADEQUATELY SUPPORT THE DOOR.

Consequence: IN THE EVENT THAT THE "D" RING FAILS, THE REAR ACCESS DOOR COULD RELEASE UNEXPECTEDLY, WHICH COULD CREATE A HAZARD TO THE PERSON LOWERING THE REAR ACCESS DOOR AND ANY BYSTANDERS.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE EXISTING "D" RING WITH A HIGHER WEIGHT-RATED "D" RING THAT ADEQUATELY SUPPORTS THE REAR ACCESS DOOR. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 22, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT THOR AT 1-570-837-1663.

I HAVE A 31' EXTREME TOY HAULER TRAILER THAT IS EQUIPPED WITH CARLISLE ST TYPE TIRES FROM THE MANUFACTURER. WITH LESS THAN 1500 MILES, I 3 OF THESE TIRES FAILED. ON THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, A BELT SLIPPED AND THE TIRE DEVELOPED A SIDEWALL BULGE. THE TRAILER MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A NEW CARLISLE ST. LESS THAN 300 MILES LATER ANOTHER CARLISLE ST TIRE DEVELOPED A SIDE BULGE AND THEN BLEW THE SIDEWALL. CARLISLE WOULD NOT REPLACE THE TIRE, BUT GAVE ME CREDIT TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF YET ANOTHER ST TIRE. WELL, 3 DAYS AGO AND ANOTHER 20…

THE CARLISLE TIRES ST225/75R15 ON MY 2003 WANDERER R.V. ARE FAILING AROUND THE RIM. THE DEALER, WESTERN R.V. IN HANFORD, CA. ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THOR, THE TRAILER MANUFACTURER AND CARLISLE, NEITHER ARE COOPERATING WITH THIS PROBLEM. WESTERN R.V. HAS ADVISED ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS BLOWOUTS WITH THESE TIRES, RE[PORTED BY THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS INFORMATION STILL STILL REVEIVES STONEWALLING FROM CARLISLE AND THOR. A GOOGLE SEARCH OF TIRE BLOWOUT CARLISLE, REVEALED THAT THIS IS A NATION WIDE PROBLEM, WITH MANY HORRO…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
