The contact rented a 2011 Thor Windsport RV. The contact stated while driving 71 mph, the RV lost motive power and electrical functions, and braking ability. The contact manually pulled the RV over to the side of the roadway and slowly stopped the RV while driving on the dirt pavement. The contact had to the RV towed to a local campsite that the contact and family were staying. The contact had an independent mechanic inspect the RV at the location. The mechanic spoke with the local dealer and was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA c…

APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES FROM MY HOME A MOTORIST STOPPED AND INFORMED ME SMOKE WAS POURING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF MY FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILER. UPON CLOSE INSPECTION I FOUND THE FRAME CRACKED AND ALLOWED THE REAR AXLE TO SHIFT FORWARD. THE REAR TIRE THEN RUBBED ON THE FRONT TIRE CREATING THE TIRES TO OVERHEAT. WE JACKED THE REAR AXLE INTO PLACE AND BLOCKED IT SO WE COULD RETURN HOME. IN ANOTHER ONE MILE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS FOR 250 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION.
