THE LAST TIME I HAD MY 1992 TOYOTA TRUCK DLX LUBED AND OIL CHANGED, THE AUTOMOBILE MECHANIC SAID MY FRAME WAS RUSTING IN TWO UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY PICKUP TRUCK. HE SAID IT COULD BE TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE TRUCK WITH THE FRAME RUSTING AWAY LIKE THIS. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT TOYOTA MFG WAS RECALLING CERTAIN TRUCKS FOR THIS REASON. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET MY TRUCK INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL? *TR

AFTER WATCHING A NEWS REPORT CONCERNING THE 2000 TUNDRA FRAME ROT WE INSPECTED OUR VEHICLE AN FOUND THAT THE FRAME AND SPRINGS HAD EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION AS WELL AS ON THE DRIVE SHAFT. WE ALSO REACHED BEHIND THE FRAME THAT WE COULD NOT SEE AND MAJOR RUST FLAKES WERE COMING OFF AS WE PUT PRESSURE ON THEM. WE ALSO HAVE VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 60 AND 70 MPH. THE TRUCK ALSO TENDS TO LURCH AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN IN AN IDLE POSITION WHEN YOU PUT THE GEAR SHIFT INTO DRIVE. WE HAVE GONE THROUGH TWO NEW BREAK JOBS IN 2 YEARS…

UPON PURCHASE I REALIZED THAT THE MOTOR WAS USING CONSIERABLE AMOUNTS OF OIL--A QUART EVERY 250 MILES. MY MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT SOME COMBINATION OF HEAD, HEAD GASKETS, OR BLOCK PROBLEMS ATTRIBUTED TO THE CONSIDERABLE OIL LEAKAGE THAT WAS TAKING PLACE. A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF OIL LEAKAGE WAS ALSO DETECTED NEAR THE REAR MAIN SEAL PORTION OF THE MOTOR, BUT MORE PARTICULARLY SOME ALUMINUM HOUSING PIECE THAT CONTAINED A SEAL IN THAT LOCATION. ONCE FIXED, LEAKAGE CONTINUES.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
