Owner report 10141317 · 2005-10-31 (October 31, 2005)
I LEFT HOUSTON WITH A NEW CAMPING TRAILER ON ITS FIRST TRIP TO A NASCAR RACE IN FT. WORTH TEXAS IN APRIL. WITH LESS THAN 300 MILES ON THE TIRES I HAD MY FIRST BLOWOUT (DRIVER REAR) ON THE TRAILER. CHECKLIST WAS COMPLETED BEFORE TRIP STARTED. TIRE PRESSURE, COMPARTMENT DOORS. ECT. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS NOTED THAT TREAD HAS SEPARATED AROUND THE TIRE AND A 3" HOLE WITH CORD WAS STICKING OUT. THE TIRE EXPLODED LOUD ENOUGH FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER TO HEAR WITH WINDOWS UP AND RADIO CD PLAYING. NOTE I DRIVE A FORD F-350 DIESEL ALSO. DISCOUNT TIR…

Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
03V533000 · Structure
Reported: 2003-12-12 (December 12, 2003)
ON CERTAIN DUMP TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH FIFTH WHEEL PLATES, CRACKS ARE VISIBLE IN THE PLATE LOCATED AROUND THE HOIST MOUNTS AND KING PIN.
Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE FAILURE OF THE TRAILER AND RESULT IN A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL EITHER PROVIDE A GUSSET, FREE OF CHARGE, OR REPLACE THE PLATE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 8, 2004. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TRAIL KING AT 1-800-545-1549.
NHTSA campaign record ↗07V018000 · Service Brakes, Air
Reported: 2007-01-16 (January 16, 2007)
ON CERTAIN TRAILERS, DURING MANUFACTURE, SOME OF THE PIPE FITTINGS WERE DRILLED TOO DEEP, RESULTING IN A THIN WALL IN THE MALE PIPE THREAD. THE MALE PIPE THREAD MAY BREAK OFF DURING OR AFTER ASSEMBLY.
Consequence: IF THE FITTING FAILS WHILE IN USE, THE AIR BRAKE SYSTEM COULD DEPRESSURIZE, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE SUDDENLY, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: TRAIL KING IS WORKING WITH BRASSCRAFT TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FITTING FREE OF CHARGE (PLEASE SEE 06E082). THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 19, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT BRASSCRAFT AT 248-305-6000 OR TRAIL KING AT 1-800-762-5557.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2003: 0 complaints · 2004: 1 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |

| 2003 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2004 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2003 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2004 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
