01V385000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Fuel Pump

Reported: 2001-12-14 (December 14, 2001)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THREADED FASTENERS USED TO ATTACH THE FUEL PUMP TO THE FUEL TANK MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED.

Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKS. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL TIGHTEN THESE FASTENERS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON DECEMBER 11, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT VICTORY/POLARIS AT 1-763-417-8650.

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL RAIL ASSEMBLY CONTAINS A SCHRADER VALVE THAT PERMITS A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK OF FUEL PRESSURE AT THE FUEL RAIL DURING ENGINE OPERATION. IF THE SCHRADER VALVE IS NOT PROPERLY TIGHTENED, FUEL LEAKAGE COULD RESULT.

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT ALL MOTORCYCLES AND REPLACE THE FUEL RAILS AS NECESSARY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 28, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT VICTORY AT 1-763-417-8650.

SINCE MARCH OF 2005 MY 1999 VICTORY MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN HITTING FALSE NEUTRALS AND DOWNSHIFTS IN BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. I BROUGHT MY BIKE TO THE DEALERSHIP IN NOVEMBER OF 2005 WITH A REQUEST FOR THEM TO CHECK THIS OUT. MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP TOOK QUICK RIDE TOWARDS THE END OF FEBRUARY AND SAID EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. TWO WEEKS AGO I CALLED POLARIS AND TALKED TO JOSH. HE SAID THE BIKE HAD TO "ACT UP" FOR THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THEY COULD FIX IT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS BIKE AND WHEN I BOUGHT IT I PURCHASED THE POLISTAR EXTENDED WA…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 VICTORY V92C MOTORCYCLE. EVER SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2008, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR AUTOMATICALLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE REPAIR SHOULD BE FREE SINCE THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE HE WAS EXPERIENCING. HE WOULD LIKE THE MANUFACTURER TO COVER THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 16…

I OWN A 1999 VICTORY V92C MOTORCYCLE. THE THIRD GEAR CONSTANTLY SLIPS OUT OF GEAR CAUSING AN EXTREMELY FAST DROP IN SPEED WHICH LAUNCHES THE DRIVER FORWARD AND SOMETIMES LOCKS UP THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING THE BIKE TO GO INTO A SKID WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE DRIVER LOSING CONTROL AND CRASHING. *TR

MY BIKE NOW WONT HOLD 3RD GEAR (SINCE LAST SUMMER ABOUT 6/2013 )& 4TH SEEMS TO BE DEGRADING RAPIDLY. VICTORY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE OLDER BIKES FOR YEARS & STILL HAVE NOT ADDRESSED THE ISSUES PROPERLY LEAVING THE CUSTOMER WITH AN OUTRAGEOUS REPAIR BILL ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT STILL DOES NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF NOT ONLY FAILURE IN HOLDING GEARS BUT ACTUAL WHEEL LOCK UP, OF WHICH COULD BE HAZARDOUS TO ONES HEATH & OTHERS. I FOUND THIS INFORMATION ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION AUTO SAFETY RECALLS IN CASE ANY …

THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY INTO THIRD GEAR OR WILL JUMP OUT OF THIRD GEAR. THE BIKE WILL JUMP OR LURCH OUT OF CONTROL , LOCKING UP THE BACK TIRE CAUSING THE RIDER TO LOSE CONTROL. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
